Yep, I have had my PP account locked for no reason, happened two years ago. They froze my account with $1800 bucks in it (was three separate payments of $600, got all three payments pretty fast so I hadn?t transferred funds yet). The next day, bam, account was frozen and remained frozen for 180 days, afterwards I immediately transferred the cash into my bank account. I never really got any answer from PP about it other than their standard ?blah blah blah it?s for our protection and yours yada yada yada?.

They did once on a business account of mine. Different people had been logging in from different IPs I guess and it flagged it as potentially fraudulent. I think I just had to fax them over something.

that is such bs.

sue them in small claims (and follow through on it), i'll pay for your filing+serving fees.. you pay me back out of the winnings. filing is like $40-80 in california depending on the amount, and a process server's fees are about $40-50.

i just want to finally see them owned. they screwed with me years ago.

I've never been locked but clients and friends always complain about Paypal's shenanigans. That's why I don't even use them anymore. Fuck Paypal.

Add me to that list.

In like 2001-02 I had a client who was paid me via PayPal 4 times for $139 each time for a monthly service I subscribed to on his behalf - he was reimbursing me.

7 months later, after I had no contact with him, he was reconciling and did not recognize these charges.

He called his bank and disputed them, PayPal instantly just negatived my account and refunded him - without ever contacting me.

So it took me about 8 months to realize that my PayPal was even negative - I found out when a collection agency called me on behalf of my debt at PayPal.

When I finally found this out, I called up the old client, he cut me a check.. no big deal. No harm, no foul.. right?

Wrong.

PayPal had already sent this to collections, so the account was closed. And now I can't have a PayPal account. Not like I want one with these policies.

Not locked persay, but I have -5000.00 balance due to chargebacks by a client who's site was 100% finished and doing business. The whole company is shut down now. Paypal has to win it since I shut down the checking account attached to that account. Was only 15.00 in there at the time of the charge back. Always keep two accounts if you have the means, which I did. So still have my backup and its good to go. I told paypal on the phone they better win if they want that money back, cause its not coming from me. Have 100% proof of all the transactions and what they were for. Email records, po#'s Screenshots of completed work etc etc.

Yeah... which is why there seems to be a certain randomness to it that people have been complaining about. The person that sent the money didn't get his funds frozen, only I did. They never really gave a straight answer either which way as to why it was shut down, they claimed it was 'suspicious activity' and that they did it for 'my protection' lmao.

several years ago they did because someone who sent me money received money from someone who they were investigating for fraud

they eventually fixed it after 6 weeks if i remember correctly

I've had around 30 of my accounts closed/locked, I don't know the exact number, lost count ages ago.

-Some of them were locked because I used them for adult stuff.
-Some of them were locked because people I paid used their accounts for adult stuff.
-Some of them were locked because people who paid me used their accounts for adult stuff.
-Some of them were locked because some idiots just thought It'd be funny to get my account closed by telling PayPal I'm using my account for adult stuff.
-Some of them were locked because someone who paid me used their mom's/brother's/sister's card.

And the list goes on...

So yes, there's usually been a reason for them to lock my account, not saying I agree with their reasons. But I've heard of several cases where they have locked an account for no reason. I hate PayPal.

Several years ago I sold a Louis Vitton purse on eBay for a friend. She had purchased the purse at Nordstrom's in Sacramento. I was with her when she bought it. Anyways I sold the thing and the buyer paid me with PayPal. I took the money out and paid my friend and then about a week later 900.00 evaporated from my bank account. (they take it from your bank account instead of your credit card so you have no recourse for getting your money back other than small claims court). Anyway I called to find out why and after about 4 days of rambling I found out that the eBay buyer had filed a claim with them claiming that the purse was a fake. PayPal took my money and allowed the buyer to keep the merchandise.

PayPal is complete bullshit if you ask me and if I am ever in New York and find the bitch that bought that purse I will beat her until I can't lift my arms.
