Do you too often have to add hard-drive space?

Years ago, 40GB was more than plenty for all my content and softwares. Now I'm lucky if I don't add another 40GB og stuff in a month. I'm off to the store to buy another 300gb harddribe cause I ran out of memory even tho I have more than 1TB.....

Right now I have over 5TB of storage and it?s really not enough, but since I?m a cheap asshole I?m pushing it as it is. I essentially have zero redundancy whatsoever in all of my data setups, so if one drive fails the data on it is kaput for good. Thankfully most of my shit gets processed and backed up on DVDs to work pretty fast.

I can't delete the content, the best I can do is save them on DVDs but it's a very good alternative for me.

Extrernal drives suck.

If you really need that much space, build a file server.

Myself, I always buy hard drives far bigger than what I need and I have a file server that I move stuff I dont use all the time to. My main box has a 300 GB HDD and the file server has 4 300 GB HDDs. More than enough for me.

I use tons and tons of different hard drives lol... different sizes, all sprawled around several computers, ranges from 120gb to 500gb. Most are Seagate because of their awesome hard drive warranty. I just got a new external drive from Lacie, it's called 'two big'. It's the fastest commercial solution in an external drive, using Pci-Express + Sata II cards. It's pricey and you can't get the full benefit of having this external drive w/o installing the Pci-x card in other computers... i.e. only YOU are going to be able to use it in most circumstances. Work just got the connection two weeks ago so I figure this is the easiest way to transfer huge amounts of data back and forth, so decided to pony up.
