was about $10K for the dinner reception for about 150 people about 9 years ago - that was reasonable higherend for winnipeg at the time - nice hall - good food - higher end drinks

Over 20k. About 350 people were there. I probably knew about 100 of them.

Formal weddings have very little to do about the bride & groom. It's all about the parents...

We actually eloped first. Called a friend to meet us at the courthouse as our witness! Our families had driven us crazy while we were dating. Later they coaxed us into a church wedding. UGH.

Around 10k about 15 years ago. With no booze. My ex husband and I didn't drink at all. So we didn't have an open bar. We had the reception at the yacht club in town.

Agree. Spending that much unless you're just rolling in money doesn't make sense. That many years ago and then some I remember her spending $3K for a dress and a bit more than that for the photo album. Don't remeber the total cost.

Yeah, what ever happened to that?? Just my luck that both her and my parents are way more broke than we are. We get to pay for our entire wedding.

I'd tell you what our budget is quiet, but that would be useless since we're already over it and we still have months to go.

Probably under $1000 including my dress. I didn't want a big wedding. I was more interested in the marriage than spending a ton of money on one day. It turned out to be great and a very friendly atmposhere rather than me having to pretend to know who everyone invited was and how I was related to them.

1st Wedding in the 80's, that my parents paid for Aprox 15K.
2nd Wedding, we paid the bill, $1,500.

My best advice, is don't start your marriage in debt for a party.

quiet,

I've been going through this with my fiance' for about a month now. Fortunately, her father is traditional and wants to pay for everything. So far, we're looking at 25k-35k for 150 guests. Not including the honeymoon.

Hope that helps.

I was in the business of marriage, now in the first husbands club, and there are so many factors of expenses..here are a few pointers..

1.Find a place that will hold the number of guests that you want to invite. Be sure that the place allows you to bring your own flowers caterers and alcohol. This is the key to saving a lot of money. Your caterers will provide the staff for your bar and you can get all top shelf alcohol at a fraction of the costs and buy it yourself at Sams or Costco. If you are on the east coast, believe it or not, get your flowers from Publix. You can have someone arrange them in your family and save big here as well.

2.Consider a great DJ instead of a band?you will save big here as well and you will have total control of the music that you want.

3.I spent 25k for 300 people using the above. Everyone thought I spent over 75k. Plus 5k for the rehersal dinner and plus the honey moons...I did sun Jamacia the first week, then Lake Tahoe the second week for skiing..

4.Get a good divorce attorney. In the end it did not work..

Good Luck?.

Was about $500 including my dress plus I paid for the bridemaids dresses, the booze and everything. Had the reception in the husbands aunts backyard.

The divorce cost him about $1500 - $2000 2 years later!!
