To avert a veto from China, the resolution does not mention Chapter Seven of the UN Charter, which is legally binding and can authorise sanctions or even military action.

And? The point I made was that even China voted for it. Just because the resolution stopped short of military action it does not make it anything but unusual for China to vote for any action against N.Korea.

It didn't just stop short of authorizing military action, it stopped short of being made legally binding. Basically this resolution does nothing.

Same point though. The resolution may be pretty useless but it remains unusual for China to act in any way against N.Korea? What the fuck is confusing about that point? I give up and will let the idiots continue to split hairs that don't existing due to their inability to understand a simple point.

Maybe, maybe not. In the world of politics it's difficult to know what's real or just windowdressing.

its not really, china has been removing themselfs from north korea's side for some time now to get in with the EU and the USA during recent trade talks. infact china has been increasingly distancing themselfs from n.korea for a while now.

china is talking to the USA about future trade links atm so am sure you will find that china gets the better end of this deal for this favor. and all china had to do to increase their speed towards becoming the worlds super-power was agree to a useless resolution against a foriegn country.
