Does anyone here have any good experiences with Drop Shipping?

I am thinking about opening a ecommerce site and fill it with only items I can drop ship...I got a killer supplier for products, everything from lingerie to electronics for killer prices, and wondering what experiences you all had with this type of thing

Basically, from what I understand...I open the online shop, someone places an order and I collect money through a payment processor, then I submit the same order to the drop ship company and they send it out to the customer

what are the pros and cons to doing something like this?

So far one of the cons is that a certain "top" supplier calls your home phone 7 times in 30 minutes after opening your account. I am not naming my supplier either, but I am becoming hesitant on opening my online shop as I am rather pissed at them right now... trying to sell me some bullshit yearly tips and tricks or some crap.

Oh yeah... a tip.

Dropshippers are OK for eBay and such, as the auctions tend to be no more than a week long. However... starting an online store, you must constantly monitor the inventory at your supplier. If you list items that are hot sellers and they are low in stock, you may find yourself spending more time on the support line with your customers.

Keep a good eye on quantities.

I've never found a public drop shipping company that had quality products for sale or low enough prices to result in a profit worth working for

I also considered the ebay thing as well, I heard that ebay is an awesome source of income if you have the right drop shipper

It is about quantity. Most popular products will only result in minimal profit. The popularity of the product should "in effect" sell more, bringing you more profits.

I used to dropship in the early 90's. My suggestion would be to find a limited number of quality products or one quality product line. There are a lot of crappy products that are offered for dropshipping.

Good luck to you.

I believe that upon opening a new account my name was put into a pool from which the sales reps draw from and "X" me off after they speak with me. Problem was, I signed up over the weekend so monday morning rolls around and all the reps pull my name from the pool while I am still on the phone with rep #1.

yeah, when they run out of an item that you've sold already is a btich, also make sure they give you the exact delivery time to your customers, some dropshippers are dropshippers themselves, which means your customer is going to wait forever for that item and esp. on ebay that can result in a couple of negative feedbacks very quickly
