True...problem is until that happens (and it will take a lot before a real 100% alternative shows up) we will endup paying alot...

Its more like we are going to pay for our and past generation mistakes for our grand-children sort of thing

God people like you make me glad that liberals are fighting for pro-choice so that more idiotic fucks such as yourself won?t be born. In the majority of big cities public transportation is more than adequate. From state-2-state, there are mass transmit systems such as BUSSES and TRAINS. Yeah, you have to leave a little earlier but oh boo fucking hoo, you stupid fat fucks can?t handle that shit, you have to have your own little gas guzzling car at your own convenience. Go jab your eyes out with a rusty pair of scissors you cum stain.

hmm.. my office is about 7 miles by road, 4 miles in a straight line. i looked into the bus situation. it would take about 2 hours to get there, with all the stops.

who the fuck's time is not worth the $1-2 it costs me to drive to work, instead of spending 3-4 hours a day on a bus?

My commute to work is about all of three minutes so it doesn't bother me.

also, in most cities, people who are concerned with gas prices (we're all really just whining if you think about it, there are people that live paycheck to paycheck that this will REALLY impact.. i.e. 90% of the surfers) live out in the suburbs and commute 20-30 miles to work. the bus systems there are non-existent for the most part. thats how i grew up. walking/biking/etc is absolutely out of the question.

Do you at least carpool? Four to six people in the car would help a lot, that's four to five less times the pollution, and four to five less times the cost to everyone's pocket. There are some situations that people *have* to drive, I'm not saying there isn't. I grew up in the bayou in LA, I understand that in some situations there are absolutely NO mass transit/public transportation systems period, and biking/walking isn't viable. But now days there is simply no reason to at LEAST carpool. It's for the benefit of everyone, the planet included.

I don't go anywhere so I could care less if gas goes up to $10 a gallon. I work from home and I hardly ever leave the house. My significant other buys the groceries for me. I'll deposit checks like once a month. I don't give a fuck about gas because I don't go anywhere.

The cost of gas is just the tip of the iceberg, it is what lies beneath that really effects the economy.
Nearly everything we use and depend on in this country is delivered. From the foods we eat to the essentials we shop for. Then to top that off the production costs of those items also need to rise due to the added fuel costs of everyone from the farmers to the manufactures paying for higher shipping or fuel.

Companies may have to scale back, lay off, or otherwise cut costs to keep themselves in the black. Then all in all this leads to a chain reaction.

In the short term, I'll do the same thing I do now. Complain every two weeks when I have to fill up my Explorer.

In the long term, I'll be happy that the prices are going to force politicans to actually either stand up for change, or get voted out of office. When prices are low, they are securely in the pockets of the energy companies.

When the price climbs, their voting constituants start thinking it's time for a change, and incumbants are no longer lifers.

Only people that care about gas are people that actually have somewhere to go.

I admit I have no life, no friends really and I don't talk to my family so I have no reason to ever leave the house. I could probably go by a month without leaving the house (except to check mail at the mailbox, not post office, but just box)...
And deposit checks once a month.

You guys must really have active social lifes and go out a lot in order to care about gas...

Where are all you people going? I would have nowhere to go even if I had 1000 gallons of free gas.

What surprises me is so many of you think oil only fuels cars.

Go write a list of everything else it does.

Our leaders have based our economy on a commodity owned by mostly Muslims. Then think they can put Jews into the middle of them without any problems.

Nearly as dumb as some of the people who post here.

We're in an industry that is mostly work from home. So... Yeah.

Anyway, bottle water is already way more expensive than that. Average price for a 20oz of generic (not name brand) is 70-80 cents. Thats $4.48-$5.12 per gallon. I love how so many people complain about gas prices yet spend nearly double on bottled water.

What's bad is that extended high fuel costs will have to get passed on to the cost of all products that are transported.
