Thumblogger is the common alternative for blogger, it currently exists for over 1,5 years and many webmasters are using it.

has all the features a adult blog webmaster could wish for. But use the search engines on the boards to find out more about thumblogger.

if you cant install wordpress then quit now. a good host for blogging is tear2hosting, those guys hook up the ips and are very savvy.

I have some buddies using dreamhost (good features/good price) for mainstream, but I was not sure if they permitted adult content.

What do you folks do for 'pinging' the blog directories with your updated blogs -- ie. do you use some of the online forms to submit your blogs (which ones?).

Here's a start to submit your blog to blog directories http://www.adultblogresource.com/submitter/
Some will take your rss feed so each time you publish a post they will know it
And for pinging, in wordpress you can specify which sites to ping....but for hosted blog services you could use a tool like http://www.thumblogger.com/starpinger/

Does anyone create their own RSS feeds which are NOT generated by blogging software?

Or, for RSS, is it best to use off the shelf programs?

I understand that some RSS feeds have known problems (content encoding issues) which may require plug-ins to patch - what are some of the know caveats of this nature?

I've used Blogger for 5 months and only 1 issue.. They thought it was a spam blog...Once I corrected them, no problems. Then again, I don't put any hardcore and no pink anymore.

host your own stuff, dont rely on someones elses host, incase it goes down, they remove it, then you are fucked
