In todays paper.

Alton Towers - The UK's biggest theme park.

A coupe marrying at alton towers theme park, cant go on the rides together because the wedding clashes with a muslim fun day.

Amanda Morris 30, and fiance Scott 31, have been told they and their 60 guests will have to obey all muslim rules. that means:

1. women and men wont be able to go on rides together

2. skimpy dresses are out for the women, who will have to have their heads and shoulder covered

3. all music and alcoholic drinks are banned.

The couple booked the wedding, before the muslims booked this day.

The story then goes on in to tale of polical correctness for minority communities over the general British public.

I'm leaving the country. Great Britain my arse...

alton towers is one of my favourite places in the country, thats truly awful I happily respect other cultures beliefs and their ways - but alton towers went too far trying to be PC - to ruin a couples most joyeous day like that either the muslim fun day should have been moved to a different day (they did book after), or at the very least the couples marriage should have been informed prior and offered an alternative date.

i think you guys are missing what atlantis was trying to say with his broken english , he was asking if they were making everyone follwo the dress code or just the wedding guests , and i think thats a completely legit question , if i was having a wedding and asked for a dress code then the guests should follow the dress code but this is completely different , they are telling a couple they have to "share" the park and follow the other couple's rules. thats bogus.

That I can understand a little bit as if you rent out a place you can more or less have your say. However, to allow the general public in and then demand that they conform to a religious standard other than their own doesn't sit right.

I think the problem here is NOT that the couple had to follow what you guys think is 'bogus' rules because it's their religion - the problem is that ALTON TOWERS fucked up and they are forcing their paying customers (in this case the wedding couple & their guests) to follow the rules of the other group.

NOW - I'm gathering the Muslim Fun Day was paid by a Muslim association that asked either not to have anyone else at the park or that anyone who was there abide by their religious beliefs. I can understand that.

This is no different than a porn convention booking and then the kids convention is being booked and they don't advise that at the porn convention everyone runs around naked. Not saying either has more a right to be there - they just can't be there together. It's the convention manager's fault for not seeing how they just don't mix.

They either should have swayed the Muslim Association to change their date or explained the situation and offered the couple a discount/covered costs to change their date.
