Words were exchanged between the players before the Frenchman violently struck Materazzi in the chest. Lip-readers have been unable to clarify exactly what was said.

Maybe there should be a special time-out where any player can claim another said something serious and the game is stopped for a fist fight. The last one standing gets to return to the game and the loser gets mega boos as they are hauled off.
