If you at an orange with a BIG piece of glass in it...

How would you react? I was just at a sushi joint and I was eating an orange after dinner to cleanse the palette... As I was chewing what I thought was a seed, I felt a sharp point and I pulled it out... It was a big piece of glass.

Now... I wasn't hurt and I wasn't even thinking "lawsuit"... What made me think about contacting a lawyer was the fact that they tried to buy me off with a $50 gift certificate as if I would ever eat there again. They quickly disposed of the glass and my lightly bloody napkins... What would you do? There were other patrons who say the event and 2 people with me...Plus I have the gift certificate that they tried to buy me with.

Would you contact a lawyer, or just contact the health department? Either way is bound to get people in trouble, but I'd hate for this to happen to another customer while they think they can just buy people off.

Sushi Mon... Not a huge cut, but a small one on my lip, and a piece of glass that could have done a TON of damage if swallowed... And I almost swallowed it.

Glad to hear you wasnt seriously injured

A couple of years ago, my Mom came to visit from Europe and she wanted to see celebrities. She had this little black book of celebrity hangouts, so we picked one and booked a table. So we went to this exclusive Italian restaurant in West Hollywood, and my husband Warren order the spaghetti bolognese. He was a little way through it when he pulled out a huge box staple out of his mouth. When he mentioned it to the waiter he told us it looked like one of the staples from the meat box, and he would get him another dish of spaghetti bolognese. Finally when the manager came out, he realised how serious it was and did everything he could do for us. Including taking care of our whole parties meal and sorting us out the times we came back

Glad you are ok, I would at least talk with a lawyer and see what they think you should do.

Airlines are a perfect example:

Your bag is lost and they try to buy you off with a $200 gift certificate...or a free upgrade next time...or a $10 coffee voucher.. whatever the case.

*MOST* (not all) insurance policys state that if you take any compensation for your lost baggage from the airline that you are unable to claim any travel insurance because you've already 'settled'.

One would assume the same in your case...

It was a close call, and by your own admission you weren't seriously harmed, so take the $50.

If they offered a sincere apology and asked you what they could o to make it right (including offering to pay for your doctor bills), then offered something like the $50 certificate I think everything would be square. I fucking hate frivolous lawsuits. That being said, if they just openly try to buy you off and not concerned with your health and/or possible doctor bills, then you have every right to sue them for health endangerment. I don?t think you would get much out of them, but at the very least you could get them under the radar of the health inspectors.

A funny story kinda like yours but w/o the pain: My brother and I went to KFC here once, he got a large coke. As a habit, he always pulls off the top/straw so he can drink directly from the cup. While we were in the drive through he opens up the coke and there are about twenty to thirty live roaches everywhere inside. He threw up everywhere (quite gracefully I might add!). The manager at the KFC, with his most utmost kindness and wisdom above all, offered to give him a $20 certificate. 20 bucks. At a place that just served him live roaches. Yummy.

Ya... It was the one in Henderson.

I'm not filing a lawsuit or anything, but they can take that shitty gift certificate and shove it up their ass. I did put a call into the health district though so they should get a visit REAL soon.
