Now I know why I'm not a big soccer fan...B-O-R-I-N-G!!!

Thank goodness the real football season is just around the corner. I don't watch soccer much, but in watching some of the World Cup matches, I had to conclude that it is B-O-R-I-N-G.

France appeared to totally outplay Italy for the entire HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES after the final score in regulation.

Italy didn't even mount any kind of offensive after Zidane was red-carded and they were up by one player.

So how do they settle this? By penalty kicks. Ridiculous!

Neither goalie made a stop - in fact they guessed wrong on every kick. A French player kicks one off the post and suddenly Italy is the champion.

Give me the NFL any day...Are you ready for some (REAL) football?

totally agreed NFL is the real football, i used to love soccer/football but this year seemed like a bunch of talentless pussies in the worldcup, where are all the new up and comers that are supposed to shine? i didnt see anyone, was fucking boring, worst worldup ever.

The one good thing about the commercial stoppages, which I agree are excessive (especially if you are at the game watching live), is that you can refill or take a piss without missing any of the action.

Also, they have the whole clock thing backwards in soccer. The time should count down to zero, not up to 45/90. More importantly, the stoppage clock is BS. Either stop the clock so that the fans know how much time is actually remaining, or show the amount of actual stoppage time left. That would add a little more excitement to the game.

There is more drama with a countdown.

There is a different offensive and defensive strategy with each play, depending upon the down, position on the field, your opponents strengths and weaknesses, etc.

I can certainly understand the appeal of soccer, I just dislike the lack of scoring, and the way ties are settled.

Just a rant. Personally I wish the NFL would go to a similar overtime procedure as the NCAA.
