yeah disappointed to see how Italy played after the French goofball got kicked off the field - they should have gone all out for a goal.

They should make the teams play for a golden goal till they fall over - if its Monday and no ones scored, tough luck, play on you overpaid muppets.

lol sad isn't it.....and it makes it even worse when you think about that it's every four years as opposed to yearly like the sports you mentioned.

I also hate the officiating rules when you get two yellow cards in different games you automatically miss the next game and getting cards for lame shit like kicking the ball away (time wasting) or a little push after the play or even for arguing. I know they got that in NBA (technicals) and NHL (unsportsmanlike) but the penalties don't seem as severe in those sports (free throw and 2 min penalty) as they do in soccer where technically a player can get thrown out of the game, put his team down by a man and miss the next game for these ticky tacky penalties.

Don't even get me started on this "sport". Yes it's very athletic, but the standards and players are pussy. Players get games off for bruises, dive like an olympic springboard champions, and get carted off on stretchers, only to return minutes later!!!!!
You get carted off in Hockey or Football, chances are it's taking you to a waiting ambulance. Not to save you the trouble of limping off of the field.

Soccer has changed any of its rules in ages. In fact, I don't whats the last rule that has been changed. They are very old school.

It would be impossible to let soccer (football) play on until a tie breaking goal was scored. Goals are hard to score. As the players get increasingly tired it gets even harder. I personally love the penalty shots. Talk about pressure.

One of my favorite things about the world cup is that it's all about the game. There's no bullshit half time show, no commercial interuptions, etc. I like basketball as well, but I can't stand the fucking bullshit before the game. It's like they realize their game is not as good as soccer, so they have to dress every game up like some special extravaganza. It's horrible. It takes 30+ minutes for a basketball game to get started. What the fuck is the Army doing at a sporting event anyway? Talk about social conditioning.

The only thing I go to MSG for anymore is hockey, and that's being increasinly gayed up as well. American sports have turned into entertainment for kids. People watch the superbowl who don't even like or understand American football. The Superbowl gets a ridiculous amount of hype, but when you watch it, it seems like 2 hours of bullshit pop stars/dancers, 2 hours of commercials, and about 30 minutes of football that ends up sucking balls 90% of the time. And people don't care that the game sucked. All they can remember is Janet Jackson's boob.

It seems like most of my countrymen have forgotten what sports is about. We've become a nation that has to be constantly distracted with shinny objects and catchy tunes.
