    Smoking age raised to 21??

If some california law makers have their way then yes.

This is disgusting, another attempt by law makers to control peoples free will.

Will this never end? I can see another 60's -ish movement coming very very soon

Hopefully we'll get another good round of music like we did in the 60's!

By the way, hows that "war on drugs" doing? Is the US winning yet?

i think smoking should be banned. it'll never happen tho, government makes too much cash. i can see drinking or smoking pot. but cigarettes? come on, its not like you're losing something enjoyable.

It'd be nice if that worked, but it will just create more appeal, since teens delight in defying authority.

If only they realized that while they feel "adult" by smoking (an illusion), in fact almost every smoker started as a teen, not an adult, and by the time they're an adult, they wish they could quit.

I'm seeing two friends struggle with quitting. It's hard for a non-smoker to understand: "If you want to stop smoking, just get rid of all your cigs, refuse any offers of cigs, if needs be stop hanging out with smoking friends until you're 'safe.'"

I think it's ironic that people in drug rehab have to pledge to give up all addictive drugs, including alcohol, but not cigarettes. Why? Because they are so addicting that requiring giving them up, too, might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
