Here is a question for all of the Boxing fans on GFY

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_Ma...rs_of_all_time

Above is a link to Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time in boxing, as voted by the magazine's writers. This list has bothered me for some time because I'm having a hard time understanding something that I just can't come up with an explanation for.

Notice anyone missing from that list? Here's a hint: Arguably, possibly the greatest boxer of all time?

How many of the writers have ever thrown a punch in a ring themselves ?

          List is worthless.

Various criteria were used for the voting: what percentage of fights by each boxer resulted as knockout wins, how many knockouts and knockout streaks each boxer had, what important rivals he knocked out during his career, and who he couldn't knock out.

That list is about the big punchers, those with KO abilities. Ali was never known for that. Besides, thats Wikipedia, aka a joke. I'm sure I could go there and edit that list.

Ali only had moderate punching power. His greatness was in his speed, mobility and toughness. He punched about as hard as Evander Holyfield, according to George Foreman, who should know.

I always find lists that include boxers from before 1950 bogus.

Most of the writers and such have never seen any of these guys live or even enough fights on camera to truly judge. All they go on is inflated heresay. It's like comparing the NFL atheletes of today with those from 1960. Sure, they were tougher but definitely not faster, stronger or more skillful.

                      That list is bullshit.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...
