Outlook 2003 question, Strange icons

Guys, Does anyone know how to get rid of these little arrows and icons?

I have done it before but I cant remember what setting it was.

I think the first one is a sign for TAB and the arrow one for ENTER.

OK according to EditPlus the first one is paragraph and the arrow one is break.

That sounds right, do you know how to remove them in the outlook settings by chance? It makes reading emails almost impossible. as they are between every word and hard return.

I believe you need to go to format>paragraph and turn those off. They are graph placeholders

Tools, Options, View, and unchecking the Paragraph marks and Tab characters boxes.
