When burnout takes over....

fuck.


burnout sucks. Period.

So whatta you do when it takes over? Best thing I've found is to get AWAY from the screen and get outside.... do something....... anything..... watch some TV... go surfing... do something other than compute or sit in front of the screen wasting time. Usually takes a few days to get the mindset back, but it's always worth the time away. The time is no doubt costly, but the results are always more than worth it.

Anyone got any other suggestions? Maybe some way to speed up this process?

Aside from everything you mentioned....

a long Quad ride up on the mountains, with plenty of beer.
a long boat ride, with plenty of beer.

both of which should be followed up by plenty of sleep... and a day or two of couch-potato-like behavior, with plenty of beer.

Graphics guys burn out easy.....

Funnily enough I was about to suggest something similar. I always find a day out at the horse races rejuvinates me and puts me back in the mood to work. I don't know how accessible horse racing is in the 'States compared to Europe but if you can get there, give it a try. Especially if it is a nice day outside too.

But seriously...

When I feel that way I just go to the local gun range. Just blast off about 300 rounds and watch your "whatever" go away.

I tell you one thing...it definitely keeps your mind off work for at least a couple of hours and most of the time, that's enough for me to revitalize my mind & motivation and get back to work.

Seriously, working out, going out to a movie, taking a long drive, not touching your computers for a day or so.

Those are some things I do. Being away from the computer for a couple of days really helps. You can't wait to get back to work.

When I get burned out I usually take off for a long weekend to a friends place who has a computer but really isn't interested in it and will tell me I'm fucked up when I try to check my stats or emails. Just get away from the computer and hang out with people who could care less about the internet; they'll help you keep your mind off your work and you'll came back at the end of the break rare'n to go and ready to make the $bling$bling$


I'm ready for one of these weekends because I've been getting major brain craps recently when I try too think up text for my ad's

I swim and workout daily - not in my home gym. That way you meet a lot of people, and the 2-3 hours spent that way keep the mind fresh. I also catch 2 movies a week. If I really freak out, I take a vacation abroad for a week, 3-4 times a year.

sadly enough...I switch computers or something lol... I dont get burned out,even when i dont NEED to be on the PC I liek to be anyways,guess its developed into a hobby of sorts
