I had my tonsils out (or at least came out of surgery) at 8.30am yesterday morning.
It is now 2pm Tuesday.
I just had a huge steak sandwich (with a REAL piece of sirloin steak, no minced beef or "tenderized" crap for my Mom - the steak was a good 1/2 inch thick !!!).
Actually, I had an ice cream and can of lemonade about 1.5 hours post op yesterday, was screaming hungry and asked for a sandwich. They said I had to wait.
So I did, I unplugged the IV drip from the little thing they stick in your hand and went outside in the sun for a cigarette.
Lunchtime came, I had Roast Lamb and veges.
Seriuously folks, I have even impressed myself with this little recovery effort - the doctor just kept shaking his head this morning ...
He said that when he left my room yesterday afternoon all he could think was "That's just the morphine still talking.. let's wait and see how good he feels tomorrow morning when that has worn right off".... then he said this morning, "and now I have to sit here and eat humble pie !".
He said my recovery is the most remarkable he has ever seen, he sees signs of healing that are not usually apparent until about day 4-5.
OK, officially, I am a freak of nature.
And I LOVE being me.
