One friend has been shot a few times, but got thru that OK. Her partner was killed outright on one shooting. Then she was stabbed a few times, - got thru that OK as well. Then raped twice - and got thru that. Then... can't remember exactly, but beaten up with a baseball bat and a few other "incidents". Been thru.. think 9 MRI scans for injuries over time. Written off over 10 vehicles - either running or chasing (oddly, not one offense for bad driving :winkwink: )

Last "major" incident was a spray of auto gun fire on a freeway - nearest bullet got caught in the headrest of the car, but no injuries. She gets home calm as hell and tells me some story about the cat in the yard - then the whole story emerges.

It's almost like a state of denial and "shutoff" with verbal like "it is not my time yet". There is one crazy fucked-up world out there - most of it, we hopefully will never see. It almost supercedes any Hollywood movie - the difference is it's real life for some folks and does take a toll in the end.

Actually a very modest, quiet and a *very* good listener - not one phrase goes unnoticed. Blends into any background at any level as may be needed.

Folks are trained to do that - includes both male and female - it's the career path they chose.

Yes, you're right. MAD PROPS to the well-trained doin' a HAWD job on the THE LINE. But, FUCK the fat-cats, moving toy soldiers on DEY desks, with NARY a THAWT to the consequences of their "whims". DEMS throwts I'd slit with glee -- :)

Irony is 2HousePlague - they get nothing for this - just the usual salary and a pension if they live that long - it's a joke!

Can only speak for the very few I know.. but never met more sincere, modest and genuine folks - ever. One I know well, I'd trust with my life. When it's stand up and be counted time - they'd be first in line. They deserve a friggin medal.

Got a "provision" lined up for two of them who definately want to retire in peace soon - least they won't have to keep looking over their shoulders.

Yes you can get hit in the head and survive,
Luckily small caliber and it bounced of the side of my thick skull.
I had a headache for a month and nine stiches just above one eye.
( missed the eye socket by 1/4 inch)
