That is what I need. I just blew off another out of a launcher. One of those big pretty blooms in the sky, along with a report.

Even 75' in the air it set off a few alarms.

These people need to turn off their car alarms for the month of July.

This is true.

I was eating dinner last night and this fucking worn out Asian woman was sitting with her child (maybe 10 years old) and her American husband. After dinner she lit up and was just blowing smoke right into her husbands and childs face.

And she was a bad smoker. She would inhale and then blow out the second she would inhale, taking nothing inside almost... but blowing it right into her kids face. Unreal.

I wanted to punch her in the throat and pout hot sauce in her eyes.

Kimo 07-02-2006 03:16 AM

cigarettes should be made illegal and fireworks should be legalized and taxed to take its place

americans have the right to bare arms, not to blow shit up :P

KRL 07-02-2006 05:21 AM

LOL, when I was a kid and we played army, we'd use live firecrackers as our little grenades to throw at each other's position.

Martin3 07-02-2006 08:20 AM

We had bottle rocket wars in highschool.

Get a bunch of 3'-6' pvc pipes, cap off one end.

A few thousand doven rockets. Show up to the firework stands at about 11:50pm on the last day they can sell them and you'll get insane deals.

Get some ones older bother to buy a bunch of beer.

Find a big field out in the middle of no where. If there's cows in the field it's just that much more fun :1orglaugh

Split off in groups of 3 or more in oppisite ends of the field.....you can figure the rest out:)

....why are they now illegal in some places? :1orglaugh

headless ghost 07-02-2006 08:36 AM

because you are so intent on taking pictures of yourself you would forget to let go of the firecracker after lighting it.

Drake 07-02-2006 08:39 AM

That's a good question. I'm not sure why. I think they're much more dangerous than guns for example and probably can cause much more damage to property and so on. Maybe quality control would be a huge issue too. They're probably categorized as bombs because that's exactly what they are.

You can also start some pretty massive brush fires in some states.

Fuck! it's getting annoying... People have been shooting off fireworks for the last 3 weeks here. Every fucking friday saturday it's been non stop for hours.. Last night OMG... they started at 5pm and went till 2 AM... BIG FUCKING STUFF. My whole house shook at least a couple dozen times.. They must have morgaged to afford that.. I figure at least a couple grand last night alone. I'm sure tonights going to be even worst. I can see why they are getting outlawed. This morning I get up and there all kinds of crap in my back yard that I have to go and clean up now.

I'm all for having a good time, but these people are taking it way to far. Christ, They are shooting this shit off from a small valley thats completely surrounded by houses and trees, (Thick trees and shrubs They are only about 2 Yards down from me and it thick enought not to be able to see the bonfire they have going) They are just low enough that the shit explodes at about the same level as all our houses on top of the hill. Tonight there's going to be a war if they start.

Tonight I'm going to be setting up the camera on my back deck, and try to get a couple pictures of exactly what I'm talking about.

teg0 07-02-2006 09:25 AM

I know in the midwest, some states are just concerned about fires. Entire fields have been burned down by fireworks. This time of the year though the fields are green and alive, not brown and dead.

pussyluver 07-02-2006 10:12 AM

Mostly cause the do gooders of the State and Local governments could outlaw them. These people love the power they have. Fireworks are not protected by the Constitution.

The reasoning usually is to protect the kids or protect the drunks. In some cases I have to agree with the laws. Pisses me off to see dozens of spent bottle rockets on my roof the next morning. Drunk people do stupid things. As it turns out I suspect people generally look at fireworks as toys and guns as weapons.

In the state I live fireworks are legal to buy. Most municipalities have outlawed them. They get shot off anyway.

Fireworks are illegal because too many people set fire to things and blow things up. They were illegal in Arizona, but now I'm in NORCAL and I see the booths popping up all over the place. I can't wait to go shopping.

I bet Niko is gonna have a great 4th July. Thats one thing i miss about Arizona, Niko and his blowing things up :1orglaugh

When I stayed with him for the Phoenix Forum we did it. It was great. Pics

Fireworks are useless and dangerous and appeal - seemingly - to the most outrageously immature and moronic people around. They can start fires and blow off body parts. All for what? A pretty light show and loud noises. Weee! I've never understood the allure. Inevitably, the illegal kind are lit off around midnight after everyone's gone to sleep during the week leading up to the Fourth and for days afterwards.

And, heck, if you haven't figured it out by now the Indians that sell the illegal fireworks get a kick out of imagining what body parts the idiot white people are going to blow off this year.

I did not vote for that idiot, fireworks have been illegal here a long time before he was voted in, and there has never been a brush fire at the beach that I am aware of.

Smoking and drinking are legal and kill/maim/destroy far many more lives than fireworks have or ever will...

As Bill Maher points out regulary, the government doesn't REALLY give a shit about your safety or they'd not have been collecting their 'protection money' from those industries (cigs & drinks) that they know have been fucking up lives for decades....

:/

PS: If the fireworks industry had a better business model and were more cash heavy I'm sure they're be some effective lobbying going on.

Holly 07-02-2006 02:19 PM

Luckily, they're not illegal around here. I live out on the water, but as you cross the bridge to come out to our neighborhood, there are two gigantic fireworks trailers set up and they've been selling the hell out of them for the last couple of weeks.

My next door neighbor does a huge thing out on his pier every year and usually spends about 5k on his fireworks. I talked to him this morning and he's dropped 8k this year. He's doing them tonight instead of Tuesday night because he has to be out of town for a sick family member, which actually works out better because our city does another one out on the water on the Fourth and we usually wait until it's over and everyone gets back, for him to do his.

Our city actually hires some company to come in and do it and they coordinate the fireworks to music. You tune in to the local radio station and the fireworks match the music. I'm kind of excited because I love fireworks. :)
