    NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - People who get tattoos from unlicensed sources are at risk of developing a drug-resistant bacterial skin infection, federal health officials warn.

    Six recent outbreaks of infections with this "superbug," methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) have been traced to unlicensed tattoo artists, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

                          I see this being a problem even with LICENSED tatoo shops if they disregard state procedures. Probably a good idea to ask a lot of questions and DEMAND to see their sterilizing solutions etc.

They use new needles and new tubes at most places everything else is cleaned in a Auto-clave. all new cups for ink and gloves ... anyone that would let someone work on them without seeing the packages opened deserves to get Hep-C ... because they're an asshole ...

                                                                                                                                          I know you have been getting tattoos a while, but one of the dirty little secrets of tattoo studios is that needles are thouroughly sterlized every time, but a new needle is not always used...in fact, a lot of places will use needles up to 5-6 times before trashing them
