Affiliate downloads entire paysite: Standard practice?

Webmaster signs up as an affiliate.
Webmaster purchases site membership.
Webmaster downloads entire contents of paysite.

Question: What is he up to?

Standard practice?? Well... For some guys yeah it is... I've done it for some sites occasionally.

No, but it's been a matter of hours. I'm actually not so much suspicious as surprised; my new affiliate is a brilliant, talented and well-known person in this industry. I'm new to running a paysite and a CCbill-based site in particular; I did expect affiliates to seek out content, but I wasn't expecting test signups.

Thanks for the info. It had crossed my mind that it might be for promotion, but I've rarely heard of it being done quite that way.

I guess it depends on the kind of site he runs... We often give passes to big affiliates so that they can choose their own content from the sites.

Never had someone join up and download everything though with us....

Let us know if this tactic works for him....

Affiliate do it all the time, some of them make a extra buck selling content on DVDs on ebay.

Depends... Lightspeed for example... They offer FTP access... But you cannot view a folder icon so well... so buying access and then grabbing what you need from the members area is easier.

We haven't used FTP for our affiliate content in a couple years V! Its all zipped up and thumbnailed in our affiliate area now.

It is the best way to make galleries. This way you aren't using oversaturated material.

We have no problems giving access and letting an affiliate gather all the content he wants in order to promote us.

He was probably doing a test signup to check stats along with grabbing content to use for galleries he's building.

OR.. he was joining vs. asking you for access so he though you wouldn't notice. And he's stealing all of your content to put in a members area of his own. Always keep an eye and also ask to see the galleries he's making himself if he says that he's using it all for promotion.
