I don't know how many there were in the first round, but there's 1 for Italy against Australia, and another one for Spain against France. They're calling ridiculous penalties in the box that they would have never called in club play. The refereeing in it's entirety is awful.. I'm sick of watching 1-0 games that are decided by penalty kicks, it really ruins the class of the World Cup. This World Cup is nowhere near as exciting as 1994..

Yes that's not the point. If you watched World Cup 94 you'd see that there were a LOT better teams back then, and there were more of them, and there was virtually no flopping, and the game was more beautiful. Two words.. Baggio=>>Romario.

penalties are what makes game lethaly amazing.

by the way romario is still knocking goals away at top level and he is 40!
