50........ :glugglug

Running phone centers in the past I've had to fire many people. They were always at the point where they NEEDED to be fired so there was never any guilt or nervousness. The only problem I ever had was a black girl that I had to document for about 6 months before I fired her because she had sued claiming discrimination against the last company she worked for and she was the niece of a bigwig with our company - Sprint.
|
I've fired many people and can't wait to fire some more.
|
I got fired once for something that my boss did. And had to fire a few in my time. You just tell them, give them a little extra check, and send them on their way.
|
I fired my wife and my brother-in-law. He got over it. She never has.
|
Yes, she in turn went to see my bosses claiming it was favoritism and that I, and the girl she was scrapping it out with (and that she threatened - which is why I told her to follow the stairs up to the door and leave) had to be fired. My boss laughed out loud and told her not to let the door hit her on the way out.

I used to fire a lot of people at one of my jobs before and it wasn't easy to do
|
I once worked for a retail chain where it was my job to find thieves and gather evidence to fire them. We found theives in three stores - it was amazing to me how people found ways around the system and justified stealing

The last guy I had to let go almost went into a mini-rage in the office. We asked him to come into HR's office, I sat in the chair beside him. I told him the company would be moving on, etc, etc...
He turned red and began arguing. I tried calm methods of shutting his venting down, however he was determined, aggressively seeking reasoning.....at one point, we thought he might take a cut at me. I hate firing anyone. Even if they deserve it. Usually if someone is lazy, all you have to do is request they do more work (their job) and you don't have to fire them, they leave. In California, firing someone basically means they get unemployement, no matter how short a timespan they have been with you. We are VERY CAREFUL in hiring anymore. Hiring in this industry is a potential liability to your company. We make sure to check referrences and seek out a variety of opinions on the person and do multiple interviews with multiple people. |
had to fire tons of people in the past when I was younger. Most were total dipshit thieves.

We hired an editor and gave him his own office and all that. He said he had his own equiptment and told me not to buy a capturing device and an extra editing pc. So he brings in this peice of shi* computer. anyway, he edits a vid and it sucks and took 3 hours to render. I show him some tricks and re edits it. It comes out ok but I look and the stupid fuc* mispelled the watermark. I'm a pretty patient guy... So we next day a custom PC so he can edit faster. The pc comes, i find him chatting on aim all day. So i yell at him. Then its the end of his shift, he walks outside and gets into a fight with his girlfriend. They go at, punching each other. She calls her brother, who brings like 13 homies. Next thing you know we have a doorway full of homies waving 9 mm's and talking shit saying they are gonna beat his ass etc. Im wathing all this via a security camera laughing my ass off as i call the police. Police come, situation dispersed, the employee comes back in all brusied up.
I told him i am sorry you have family problems but this behavior is unacceptable. I'm gonna have to let you go. Thats pretty much it.. everyone else has been with me since or around day 1. Duke |
Yea i have had to fire people :( Mostly nannys. Hard to find a good one that isnt lazy and I tell ya it sucks

I don't mind firing people who have stolen, but I've never liked firing people that just basically end up not cutting it. I guess because you know they've probably been fired before and will continue to be fired in the future, and you just feel sorry for those kinds of perpetual job losers, especially when they do try but its not good enough.

I found one of my employees downloading and copying movies on my computer in the office, it was my computer but the one he used. He was out at lunch when I discovered it.
He got fired on the spot, did not give him time to take his coat off. When his lawyer wrote to me I sent her a video of the whole thing including, me firing him, the computer downloading and the copied DVDs on his desk. Never heard back from her and wrote a few truthful references for him recently. Most of the time firing someone reflects badly on how I did my job as a leader. I either recruited badly or failed to train someone properly. Which is bad for me and the employee. |
Fired the guy who spent his time chatting online with 14 year old boys (he was 33) instead of doing his work.

never had to fire someone, but been fired for not turning up!

I have never had the stealing thing but I have fired people. And they know it is coming. I try lots of ways to make it work before they get fired so we both know we have given it a go and it is not working out.
I had a n office manager who watched my style and she was amazed that the person thanked me after I fired them. She then said she was probably going to do the same thing she when she was fired. She did. :winkwink: |
once i fired when i was dreaming. i was so scared that i don't think i will do it in reality.
And i also fired in shooting gallery |
once you do it... everything would be back to normal (at least for u)
