Someone gave me a present of an original studio print (circa mid 50's) of her in The Seven Year Itch - the sequence of her getting a blast of air up her skirt.

The publicity pics were contrived and the skirt was "wired up" to look as tho there was air jetting out to capture the perfect image.

Growing up I never quite understood the fascination with Monroe. Sure, she was attractive...but I couldn't see what the big deal was about. I never really thought she was anything special to look at.

But now that I'm into my forties and having seen a few of her movies in recent years (watched Some Like It Hot not long ago) - I've come to appreciate her allure and mystique more. Coupled with her untimely and tragic death...its no wonder she's become such a legend.

I totally disagree Norma Jean Baker was stupidity indemnified. several failed marriages ( Arthur Miller, and Joe Di Maggio for a start), Suppossed affairs with both JFK and Robert kennedy...The IQ of a Lentil bean and it really took a suspiscious death for her to become Immortal, and 6 toes on one of her feet.
