how can google track leads or the purchase of a product? cookie code would have to be placed on the order form and if thats a 3rd party that can't be done.

I agree, but I do think CPA will be the desired method that merchants will want to push, less risk and fraud for everyone.

so now they want to be tough guys and try to do what Sun failed at. Unseat MSFT in the office/productivity platform.

small to large enterprises are NOT going to start putting their sensitive data online. Nobody is going to throw away decades of training on MSFT office applications for some online bullshit 'AJAX' web 2.0 pile of dog cocks. If Open Office couldn't do it - Google won't be able to.

Your logic is very fuzzy. Log into your adsense account and dig around for answers.

Google will take 85% of the comission for serving the ads and - US VAT if you have a non-US company.
Fuck that.

Though it could be a good revenue stream for shop owners.

I doubt i'll work with them unless they somehow just blow all of the competition out of the water. I really hate working with huge mega corporations where i'm just a small drop in a bucket if i'm not pushing $10M/sales a month unless absolutely neccessay

and other than their adwords/adsense program (awesome, no doubt), where are their other streams of revenue?

Imagine this: Yahoo or MSFT decide to go to war with GOOG.

first target, their publisher network.

YAHOO decides to go ahead and take a loss on their publisher network business and payout %140 to publishers. How long do you think current adsense users would stick around before flocking to Yahoo?

yahoo could do it, because they have many MANY streams of income. Google has ONE. If they steal Goog's publisher program, that's - what - 20-25% of Goog's income? (i haven't read the 10q, so i may be wrong).

And as I stated before, other than their search engine and advertising platform, what else have they really done? they hired 50 jillion PHds and we got 'Google Co-Op'

feh
