Stem Cells Heal Paralyzed Rats & Other Stem Cell News

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060620/...c/stem_cells_4

This is probably one of the most promising stem cell breakthroughs yet. Although it uses embryonic stem cells instead of other stem cells.

It's too early to tell if it will work on humans but it's a better than even chance it will. Of course there will be YEARS of trials and shit while people sit around in wheel chairs.

In other stem cell news, I got off the phone with the top lab doing treatment in Thailand. Very friendly bunch of people. What they told me would astonish you.

This technology is really the wave of the future.

Remember, we currently have a government who recently released a big declaration that there had never been one shred of proof ever that there is any medical benefit to marijuana...

lol? so true. Weed has just as many fucking carcinogenous as cigs do (in fact, moreso!) yet I have never heard of one person getting lung cancer from smoking weed. That?s because weed is so badass that it CURES THE CANCER THAT WEED CAUSES lmao. Seriously, the THC or something else in weed seems to completely nullify the carcinogens in it. Sure wish the gov. would plunk a few hundred million dollars in some serious research into it instead of waging war against pornography.

JFK yes.

Basically, I knew about the potential of stem cell treatments decades ago when I was in high school and college. So did other people and institutions that will remain nameless until the Freedom of Information Act files are released.

What's happening here is that human history is being changed before our eyes. Medical miracles of Biblical proportions are about to be revealed. If you're on the back end of it you might well regret it.

The possibilities are endless for cures to common and exotic illnesses. Blind seeing, deaf hearing, baldness, heart disease, diabetes, cancer to name a few. Alzheimers, Parkinsons's Disease, Spina Bifida, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis.

Yet with the scientific proof and application before their very eyes, we have politicians and psychotics using religion as a stonewalling attempt to research and deliver these treatments.

It's a friggin' shame.

I'm staying on top of this technology to make sure things go right. I'm surprised I've gotten to meet the top researchers. What they've told me would blow your mind.

The future is worth staying alive for. Don't let anyone take your future away.

Give them or one of their loved ones some incurable illness/injury and I bet they'd change their tune that's what's really sad

Dude, I have a ton of data on stem cell treatments and MS. I'll dig it up for you. You need to stay on top of this. Hit me up by email. I was on the phone last night for over an hour with the top stem cell treatment facility in Thailand. Here's a link to a story about them:

http://www.time.com/time/globalbusin...137670,00.html

Having a loved one with MS is a scary experience. I too have an old friend who is suffering. Lucky for her her family is wealthy and I was able to show them the latest stem cell research. When things are a go, she'll go and get treatment. She's lucky that the technology is here now and advances in them are just around the corner.

We all create a good number of (adult)stem cells on a daily basis.
Our nose is the biggest supplier of these.

Yes, you would thinks so but believe it or not, I'm in a debate with a psycho religious freak who has no clue and would rather die than get stem cell treatment even when it's in his own damn neighborhood!

That's the type of mentality you deal with in this world. People who are so twisted and unable to think for themselves they hide behind rhetoric and stimulus impulse behavior. They are no where near conciousness and it's just their unconcious minds and circuitry in effect.

Mind you, I read a report last night from a top U.S. official that blatantly stated that the advances in stem cell technologies by labs around the world are going to rush the opening of clinics in the U.S. because of one reason only:

Competition for money.

Yep, it's gonna be a patient's play day very soon as prices drop and clinics open especially in India. If India is smart, and holds it's ground they'll end up being a major player in health care. The competition is getting fierce because Americans are tired of high costs and inadequate care and doctors and nurses who aren't being treated with respect and care. Two nights ago a pal of mine told me of a brain surgeon who worked on his father for years. The man was paying $700k a year in malpractice insurance. He was a beloved doctor but guess what? His malpractice costs were so high he couldn't work in the U.S. anymore. Japan recognized his talent and courted him for years til he finally had to say goodbye U.S.

See what's happening? Doctors want to doctor but they're being prevented from doing so and if they speak up they get fired or sanctioned.

Boy that pisses me off.

The nose? I vaguely recall something like that but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's amazing what the body can produce. Why we're so screwed up is beyond me.

Outside of regular stem cell treatment the prospect of regrowing limbs and organs is the next stage. They're already doing it with some body parts but the country that busts out with a rapid lung, heart, liver regrowth procedure is going to RULE. The race is on big time. It's just what the U.S. needed, a good kick in the ass and the rest of the world saying to the FDA and AMA to go fuck themselves.

Would be awsome if stem cells could cure me of the leg disabilty that I have and that gets worse as I age. (Spastic Pareplegia) At the rate it's going I will be lucky if I'm still walking when I'm 35 (in 3 years).

The older people in my family that have this (my dad, my unles etc..) it did not progress fast and did not start hitting them till they were in their late 30's. Me on the other hand got hit with it at 13 years old. Once I hit 20 it started getting worse quickly. I would do anything to get rid of this shit from my life as well as everyone in my family that's been affected by it.

Problem is, I don't see this going to far for 15+ years.. Maybe 20 or 30 years since THEY do not want anything that can cure what makes them millions of dollars. Pathetic how it's all about money and not really our helth.. We need stem cell research to keep going so one day we can put a stop to many things.

Yes I agree, its the old drug mafia that is feeding the fear, because they fear the loss of income from new technologies, which they are not part of.

Yngwie, email me and I'll see if the clinics I'm talking to do treatments for your condition. If not you may be in luck that they'll take you on to do trials instead and not pay a dime. It's worth a shot bro, not worth being disabled. Drop me an email and I'll ask directly.

Waverly teen travels to D.C. for stem-cell press conference
Rabon, senator promote research into adult cells

By REBECCA GO
COPLEY NEWS SERVICE
Published Wednesday, June 21, 2006

WASHINGTON - Jacki Rabon spent her first trip to the nation's capital sightseeing - and advocating adult stem cell research.

The 19-year-old from Waverly joined U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., and other adult stem cell patients in a Capitol Hill press conference Tuesday afternoon. Brownback supports adult stem cell research as an alternative to research on stem cells derived from human embryos.

The latter is controversial because it destroys the embryos, though some scientists believe it holds more promise for treating or curing diseases and injuries. Stem cells are unspecialized cells that researchers believe could revolutionize medical treatment if they can be used to grow replacement organs and tissues.

Rabon, paralyzed from the waist down since a car accident in 2003, underwent experimental surgery six months ago in Lisbon, Portugal. The $44,000 procedure, known as olfactory mucosa transplantation, transferred stem cells from the inside of Rabon's nose to the area of her spinal cord injury.

"It was a very intense surgery," Rabon said.

She said at the news conference that she has increased feeling in her hips and now walks with the aid of a walker and braces.

"(The surgery) allowed me to walk again and go back to my normal life," said Rabon, who spoke into microphones from her wheelchair.

Rabon was among several people who spoke, many of whom also had benefited from adult or umbilical cord blood stem-cell treatment. Brownback called for bringing such procedures to the United States.

"Many of the patients had to go overseas," he said. "They shouldn't have to do that."

Brownback clearly differentiated between his support of adult and cord-blood stem-cell research and his opposition to the use of embryonic stem cells.

Rabon, who opposes abortion, echoed Brownback. She said there is less risk of rejection with adult stem cells than with embryonic stem cells. She and her family are ethically more comfortable with adult stem-cell research, but have stated before that they are not completely opposed to embryonic stem-cell research if it led to cures.

"I think everyone is going to have different views," Rabon said. "I support everything that's been talked about here at this press conference."

The event was scheduled in anticipation of a vote on federal funding for stem-cell research. Brownback said the issue could reach the Senate floor by July, before the Senate summer recess.

The legislation probably will be a three-part package regarding embryonic stem-cell research, other types of stem-cell research and the use of tissue from advanced embryos or fetuses.

Brownback invited Rabon to Washington after reading an article about her in the Baptist Press. The press conference organizer, the Do No Harm Coalition, paid for Rabon and her mother, Becki, to fly out and stay for a few days. Jacki's older sister, Jennifer Watret, came along as well.

Aside from continuing her rehabilitation routine and doing "what typical teens do," Rabon will enroll at MacMurray College in Jacksonville in the fall. She plans to study speech therapy.
