    "A 14-year old is suing myspace for $30 million claiming the site failed to protect her from a 19-year old she met through the site. The suit claims that MySpace doesn't verify a user's identity or age and doesn't do enough to protect users."

                                                                                                          Actually, it should be the social welfare to take the parent to court and take her guardianship away from the child. Yes, it's an extreme measure but it's certainly worth it to protect this 14 year old by providing her with a guardian that can actually 'guard' her.

                                                                                                          I mean geez, I wouldn't be surprised if the mother set this whole thing up just so she can sue Myspace.

                                                                                                                          Seriously, you can block people on myspace, this isn't a matter of her being a victim-it's a matter of her acting like one so she isn't held responsible for the decisions she made in this situation. In light of that, I wouldn't be surprised if she lied about her age, and 19 isn't like a 29 year old, either. They're both teenagers for Christ's sake.

No one forced the kid to do anything. The guy got arrested, that is all that needs to happen. A MySpace representative was not there afterschool and forced her into the guy's car. Getting into his car was a choice SHE made and this choice ultimately reflects back on bad parenting and/or a psychological problem.

                                                                                                                                              Think about it. Let's say some guy goes through and searches for blogs of young girls and finds their AIM screen name. The guy contacts her via AIM and tells her to come out to blah blah street at blah PM. She comes out, gets into his car. The guy rapes her. Should AOL cough up 30mil? AIM doesn't require a strict age verification either.
