YES, everything talked about here CAN be done via PC. I know, I have done it for years. BUT I have NEVER done it so simple and using ONLY the built in software that comes standard on the computer, or done it without having to jump from program to program hoping everything worked out. I think I own every single PC based encoding program written to date and have played with them all. This by no means was a fly by night change to a MAC. I had a lot riding on it.

The number of times I spent sleepless nights installing Hardware or software hoping that it would not fuckup the entire computer or cause me to rebuild the entire machine... gone.

Games, well there are some avail. can I run BF2... nope, unless I boot to XP that is, Do I want to, NO. This computer is for business and I don't need ANOTHER fucking distraction when I should be working, GFY in enough of that already LOL.

How about just a general "Macs for Porn" club, sure there are lots of us that could use some tips every now and then.

yeah.. go ahead and spend 4 grand on a laptop.. LOL

must be nice to have big bucks to throw away.

WEP works best at the lowest encryption setting by the way (64 bit works like a champ)

Mine is now a week old and it's quickly going from being my "personal" computer to another business one.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.

Aperture

Ok, I have been now playing for awhile on the MacBook Pro.. Still love it.

SO I was working with Aperture, so far here are my thoughts...

Seems fucking sweet.

OK, So I can organize all my content in it, thats nice. But I can also do all the standard batch stuff in it, renaming etc... Nothing new there, BUT what I really like it that I can export all my images, sized AND WATERMARKED and renamed all in one simple step. For that alone it's worth the price. I have fucked with good watermarking for a long time, trying to use CS2 and other programs. This actually does it and does it right the first time. Sweet :thumbsup

Now, normally I shoot raw... But during my last shoot I shot Jpg High on my D2x, And sure enough on of the sets white balance was a little off... Normally if your shooting jpg, this could be a real issue. But I used Bibble Pro, another program that I am totally astounded with, and simply selected all images, then used the white balance control to point to an area of my first picture that should have been white and BLAM all images corrected (about 500 of them) Simple sweet and perfect. You have to love some of the tools availiable to us lay people.... No pun intended.

OK, It's been 1 month since I bought the Macbook Pro 17 with 2 gigs of ram. I STILL LOVE IT. Simply the best laptop I have ever owned bar none.

The Only issue I had with it was a slow DNS lookup while using it via wireless to my router, manually entering in a DNS of 4.2.2.2 solved that issue.

The driver updates, and other automatic updates are painless. The operatin system is stable and the laptop is fast as hell. PLUS battery life is outstanding. I have found no reason to install bootcamp and run XP as everything I need for work already runs on OSX. If I feel like playing Battlefield with it online, might be the only reason I install XP, but this is a work machine, I have pleantly of other computer laying around for games. (Not that I ahve any time for games with the new baby etc...) :)

So, 2 thumbs up for a great product, BUT beware of machines built in the first 22 weeks of production, you can tell by the serial number, from reading Apple and other forums, there seems to have been a few hardware issues that caused HEAT, battery damage and a loud whine... No issue with my later book, and Apple is fixing the issue on the other machines from the words of those that have them.

I run Aperture.

It is great in terms of organization and mass handling of raw files. Otherwise, nothing really special.

I love my Mac, good to hear so far you are enjoying it.

but more info on this would be great :)

All the autosubmission programs are for Windows, so they won't work on Mac. The program I posted let's you run a Windows virtual machine with ease. This means you can run your autosubmissions programs on your Mac. Or you can set your machine up to dualboot OSX and Windows using the Apple Bootcamp programs.
