Explaination of different Traffic Values.

ok, I'm bored so I figgured I'd say something useful and maybe rank the different values of traffic for adult orientated sites

#1 Type in.
#2 Non-Blind Links
#3 Blind Links

that's it - three catigories. there are several SUB-Catigories with each though.

#1 is type in. WHY? cause the person is looking EXACTLY for your SITE and what you have on it. It's often via a referral or just a dumbass typing in sex and seeing what he gets. A prime example is sex.com

#2 non-blind with a description of your site. the best of this would generally be search engine. Why - because new surfers generally look for things via search engines and if your site is the first they find you have a good chance to sell some porn or porn realted crap. Next would be top lists that have your site name and description. Why - surfer knows EXACTLY where they are going and what to expect. After that would be links on sites with your site name only, still good traffic - although a little more vague without a description so not quite as high in quality.

#3 Blind. there are many kinds of blind links. The best blind links are ones leading to your site with a description similar to your site. Then blind links that not scripted - why, cause scripts are too easy to mess with. Finally the worst quality would be a scripted blind link.

what does this all mean? In a word, ratios.

a nonblind surfer in isn't likly to say cause they feel tricked and often just clicks back the second they see your site, even though your counter has already recorded them and they cost you bandwidth. A non-blind surfer who had an accurate description of your site comming in is gona stay and look around.

It takes ATTENTION to sell something, meaning the surfer has to stay for a bit and see your ads to buy something.

There, that's my good deed for the year. Don't say I never do anyting useful for others.

buy ads according to the value of the traffic on the sites you are purchasing from. pay more for better traffic - get it?

I'm NOT saying don't buy ads on sites fed with blind traffic, but don't pay the same for 100K hits from a site fed with blind traffic as you would for 100K hits from sex.com or a search engine with a proper link description

Yeah the sub categories would be the niches I think...

I tend to feel that hardcore surfers have less "taste" -- they are -- shall we say "uncultured" -- so they have less $$$ in the ol' bankola... Of course their are tasteful hardcore sites like extremefineart.com -- but I'm just making a generalization...

Of course the trend now is moving toward hardcore -- and there is more traffic in hardcore -- but still the softer the traffic the more money it's worth. If a guy comes from an anal and facial site and he clicks onto a bikini page he's just going to laugh when you ask to pay $$$ to see some tits...

This is why TheHun has more traffic than Persian Kitty -- for all we know, PK makes more money than TheHun.

Anyway this is a good thread so I'll keep going...

Other indicators:

% of non-english traffic
click productivity (determined like Sleazy said -- by blind or non-blind) -> this is a very useful indicator still
uniques -> useless indicator
raws -> useless indicator

if you have hot software you can do even more fancy indicators:

raws/sales
raws/banner
raws/$ -- the best indicator you could ever hope to calculate ;p

Also there are other indicators that I keep secret -- but I'll give you some hints:

"sticky" indicators
RH-Levels "rhizomatic human" (hitbot detection -- aka ICE)

Really you can look at stats until you are blue in the face -- but IMHO productivity is the #1 indicator and you can learn enormously from it...

Also I forgot one thing.

If a surfer comes from a URL that has an exit console -- the value of your surfer drops quite a bit -- this is why all click programs will cancel you for cheating if you use exit consoles. Anyhow if you know how to read your productivity levels (for each source of traffic) -- you don't really need to worry about someone cheating you out of $$$ w/ consoles.

Yes -- it is like rocket science!

This is only touching the surface -- there are lots and lots of complex traffic algorithms -- and if you don't know what an algorithm is -- you're already 10 steps behind the game.

Try porngraph.com -- I think this will be the next hot counter for measuring traffic quality...

sure type in traffic is gold.. like sex.com 69.com. but how many type in names are left? think of something that will stick in the surfers head.. take for instance PK, thehun, sleazydream..

the key now is giving the porn surfer what he wants, when he wants and not dick him around.

1: as far as domains partial keywords in the url is good for the search engines for example: you cant get teensex.com but use a domain with the word teen in it and then use teen sex in the title metatags and body. you'll be sure to nab some good se traffic if done right. remember search engines like fresh content and lots of it.

2. blind links.. forgetaboutit. the bandwidth cost like you said is just a waste.. only cure for that is to link it to a FPA on your site with a back button trick

3. non blind links.. be short and very descriptive.. taunt the surfer. which also helps your s.e standings

so in recap
get a domain name that sticks in your head,
make it simple and straight to the point
give the people what they want
be descriptive and make them click your links
they will always come back for more.

From here, Amateur traffic seems to get the most clicks. I was even inspired to create Amateur Snapshots just the other day.

yeah i agree with you about the blind links.
but on the other hand sometimes i think: if blind links are such a bad move, why are 99% of all TGP's using them (yeah it's gallery skimming i'm talking about) ?!?

i think it's morally not a good idea to mess with surfers too much, plus i think in the long run you'll be better off when you are honest to them from the start.
but then we've got reality; it's all over the place -- very hard to find trade partners that don't do blind links either. and your traffic's productivity at other sites may be great, but productivity on my own site instantly rises with every blind link i add...

you guys get my point? i'm in between two arguments.

Depends on how you define productivity? If for you, it means having the same surfers (like chineses) just clicking numerous time on your site, then this "productity" shouldn't be your #1 indicator like most TGP webmasters are lead to beleive. IHMO, the #1 indicator is the amount of $ you make per page view.
