Why cant mainstream sites take adult traffic?

are there that many handfuls of problems that mainstream sites just rather not take any adult traffic, even though it could be a big potential?

I'll take it. I see the potential and will tap into it...

...adult traffic, mainstream traffic, crap traffic, blind traffic, whatever traffic, and I'll see if it sticks. I'll send it right back to you with a big "go back to where you came from" link. but you've got to wait till after our beta test's over for both sites (both well-funded, 1 VC funded). hopefully 1 will be done mid-September (B2B2C) and other by December (C2C). For first crop of affiliates, I'll setup eternal cookies so if surfers ever come back & convert "EVER"... you'll get (some form of) credit for that surfer (even if someone else referred them before/after you). Both sites have paid membership/features, plenty of upsells, etc that I'll pay out for. My domains are generic and very memorable, so once your surfer sees the site(s) and the domain names, I'm happy. I don't need them to sign up the same day, as long as they know we're out there... there's a good chance some of them will come back. All you have to do is tell me which one of your sites to send the traffic back to. (if you're sending me adult, it can go back to one of your adult sites though I prefer funneling it to another mainstream. Obviously if you send me mainstream, it goes back to mainstream.) Hopefully this arrangement will be Win/Win/Win all around.

my email is over here if anyone's interested

There are simple ways to launder your traffic if you feel you have some mainstream product that you think will sell well on a adult site.

The simplest way that comes to mind, is to set up a nice sales page on a non adult domain, then link to that domain from your adult sites.

Sure if the affiliate program really wants to dig into it, they can find you out. I don't think they would bother as long as you weren't using their "brand name" on your adult site but rather using something to vaguely describe what ever the product is.

no. but why do you think so? Let me offer up an explanation:

every surfer will be tagged to the person who referred him originally. I'd prefer to only give credit to ORIGINAL referrer (less of a nightmare and to avoid any backlash from affiliates, accusations, etc) but some of our beta testers wondered why we don't give credit to other's who have referred that surfer, if let's say, a long period of time has passed (90 days, etc) between when the surfer first visited us and when and who they sign up under. so we're aggressively looking for the right solution that's win/win/win.

keep in mind, then nature of both sites are based on referrals, viral promotion, etc.

perhaps:

Affiliate #1 refers Surfer #1 who does not sign up.
90 days later: Affiliate #2 refers Surfer#1 who signs up because they are friends, co-workers, etc...

who gets credit? 1, both, if 1 then which one. I'm trying to spread the wealth. If you take into consideration what most sponsors do with their cookies (2 weeks, 30 days, 48 hours, even worse) I thought I was being very generous offering an eternal cookie. Because, in my mind, perhaps Surfer #2 ONLY signed up because he remembered seeing the site the first time around and impressed the site's still active (implies longevity), and then was reinforced by his friends that it's a great site (viral)... so this is one of the solutions we came up with our mainstream focus group of testers. not perfect, but we're evolving.

but if you have any suggestions, and I do value them, let me know.

some of the programs on CJ, LS, etc really drill down hard and get pissed off which always made little sense to me. as long as you're not putting their logos/products near your adult content, it should not matter, but unfortunately it does.

but you're right, put up your own mainstream landing page. I was only saying that I'm one of the few that don't mind any kind of traffic, even chinese traffic.

to be honest man, if someone that I sent to your site signs up from someone else 90 days later, it isn't something that I am sweating, because apparently I didn't sell him well enough, but the next site did

I do like the idea of giving me partial credit for being the first to send him though, but that will end in a nightmare and be a huge hassle for you I would think....I don't know why, it just doesn't sound like something that would work out real well

industry standard is usually (or should be) 30 days cookie that is overwritten by the next affiliate sending to the site...if someone wants to make the cookie longer, than that is cool by everyone...but that is the way it has been for years and no one is really complaining about it, so why change it?

good insight.

not trying to reinvent the wheel... just trying to be generous... perhaps to a fault.

damned if you do, damned if you don't... I guess unless no one knew you were going to do it in the first place.

I do like the concept of a tiered system though....current affiliate gets 60%, and second affiliate gets a 10% bonus or something like that....it COULD work, but you never know how well til you try, you know?
