Buying new Desktop... Conroe? AM2? WTF??
I need to build me a Desktop as only a laptop is killing me.
But I get into ordering parts and doing a couple searches to see whats better I find all this info on how the release of Conroe will be huge and its a way better chip then the AMD X2. But then I find that the new AMD is using a AM2 socket or something? So now I am confused as hell. I dont know shit about PC hardware. So someone that does wanna give me a hand? Do I want to buy the AM2 chip or wait for the Conroe, or jsut wait for the conroe to bring the price of the AM2 down? or whats going on? Thanks. |

Whats the Conroe? I am actually trying to find something aswell, and think I am going for an AM2 4200 (X2). Check out tomshardware.com for nice cpu comparisons - very helpful.

There were some good articles on www.newegg.com on Conroe about a week ago. Hope that helps.

lol the Sinclair ZX81 is OLD.
Tomshardware has always been biased, unless they changed resently. And I dont think any Conroe chips have been released. Searching Newegg right now. Cant really find much though??? |
