Pimp...

My mate just bought a $14,000 solid gold cartier... that was from Duty Free, so was about $2100 off it... Will get a pic when I see him :winkwink:

s9ann0 06-18-2006 01:57 PM

I like cartier pasha but you won't get a 38mm for $3k
I think the 35mm looks a bit small on guys

Maybe it's just me, but isn't Cartier more of a womens brand? Their watches looks kinda girly anyway...

And with me as much as I like watches, I don't really see spending thousands on one, unless it's just something rare and great. I like to have alot of different looks as long as they're quality. I already bought 6 watches so far this year and they were all in the $300 to $500 price range.

still love my santos, the ss/gold automatic still is the nicest imho, Pashas are huge. Yes they scratch, gotta polish and service them every yr.

theyre dress watches, dont wear mine that often, then again you dont wear a Tag to a tux either imho

Can't go wrong with Omega and their Seamaster

Anna_O 06-19-2006 03:07 AM

I agree, they have a green faced new one that is goregous.

Well within the 3k limit.

About 2200 where I priced it.

there are 1000s of watches lotsa ppl think its an absolute waiste to spend more then 50 on a watch, its a prestige gadget it really is, then again a good watch keeps worth what you bought it for, its not like the moneys gone.

Just make sure you wear it, no use in getting a bling rolex and puttin it in the safe imho.

Yeah, our biz has been very good the past year so we have decided to spoil ourselves with some nice stuff :) As you said, a nice watch pretty keeps it's value and if not sold, can be passed on to future generations.

Indeed, the reason for not spending more than around 3k is that I want to wear it all the time. More expensive than that would just feel scary to carry around on your wrist...

My Daytona ownz.

nolongerexists 06-19-2006 06:38 AM

Could anyone tell me if shops like that can be trustworthy?
For example this - http://www.jacobtime.com/osc/product...27f7bfefca22bf
How comes watch with retail price of 15k is sold for 3k?

sperbonzo 06-19-2006 07:23 AM

I'm a total watch whore. IMHO the best looking watches are the Brietlings, the Franck Mullers, and the Ulysse Nardin.

nice and my statement bout keeping its value does not account for watches like this one - check 2nd hand prices on them and youll see

If you wanna get a watch that keeps it value get a rolex cartier iwc breguet jlc or so a real watch and not a company who starts a 1000 bucks po box company in Switzerland 30 yrs ago and uses ETA mechanisms just so they put swiss made on it

that edox never was 15k

its not a bad brand they made rolex alike copies in the 80s, ETA movements, so basically youre paying for the gold, the watch itself is worth a few 100

Theres nothing wrong with buying the watch you like, all I said was that yours shouldnt be bought as an investment. Believe it or not I know watches, I bought many and also traded some.

Its a nice watch but its never gonna be worth a penny more then you paid for it. Not cause I dont want it to be but because its nothing special, nice faceplage with an ETA movement or alike.

Ingersoll makes them too. Two hundred bucks and Ill tell you they even look good. If the name rings a bell, they made the Mickey watch.

oh man really dont waste money on a tag, i mean they're nice but way overpriced. if you dont care about the warranty though i can get you one cheaper than in store lol

omega is much better than a tag, personally i would get one directly from some of the smaller companies in switzerland that dont have worldwide distribution. i just got a distributorship for one of them for here in the US.

Crap, damn ICQ is down again. Trying to connect but this shit has been happening for a week now.

czarina 06-19-2006 04:41 PM

I have a tag that is about 10 years old now. but very classy looking. I alos like Doxa, and Britling.

cliffom 06-19-2006 05:15 PM

I purchased a Movado in Vegas during the AVN show this past January. Very simple yet classy design and I love the dual-latch clasp.

robfantasy 06-19-2006 05:27 PM

wheres the best place to get used, 2nd hand watches?

i was thinking of a used presedential rolex or a cartier roadster

I like the even simpler Movado's. Thin, black face. Just hands.

They are for the guys who are confident about their penis size.

DateDoc 06-19-2006 06:15 PM

Get an Omega. I had a Rolex and the Omega is a better watch.

IWC is amazing. The movement if you see that, it makes you drool. There are movements where ppl work on for over a year.
