Looking for educated answers. No bullshit!

1. Are they crucial?

2. Vertical or Horizontal images? Or does it matter as long as the thumbs are cropped properly.

3. Are POTDs limited to only solo teen sites or can hardcore images be used to promote hardcore sites?

4. After a year's worth (365 images) can they be recycled?

No not crucial, just another marketing tool.

Either format of image, and I dont see why you'd need a thumbnail at all, unless you had many catagories to choose from.

Any niche could use a POTD as long as there is at least 31 pics for it.

Why wait a year? Some recycle them every month.

Here is a POTD tour we are working on - not trying to hijack or spam - just looking for similar feedback and to add to the thread:

New Homegrown POTD tour

1. Crucial - don't know about that but every marketing tool has its advantages and disadvantages. POTD is good for showing off update regularity and getting bookmarks.

2. quality of the pix and or thumbs is more important than hor. or vert. layout.

3. Our POTD is definitely geared to sell hardcore...

4. I think the recycling idea from a program owner perspective would defeat some of the advantages of a POTD.
