If you have a nice car don't use maaco, they are low grade painters, get a real paintshop to do it.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.
the reason it sucks i heard is they use a softener to soften the paint thats already on the car, so the new paint will adhere to it.
so the secret is to prep your own car and just let them spray, bake and wet sand it. if they dont wet sand it, then you must do it right when you get home. then buff it out
actually when you go to a local shop, the price depends alot on the color, however they mix their own paints. the pigments are various prices. then figure in the cost of reducers and clear.
the actual labor rate is low but stay away from red
if you know a clean place you can spray it, go catch a painter on his way home.. a few hundred bucks, a case of beer, and you buy the paint, u should come out around $600 but then you still have to wet sand and buff it

i have heard mixed stories about maaco
if you remove all the decals, etc. etc. they do a good job
but if you just throw it at them to paint they suck
low grade not really, they have some pretty high tech equiptment from the looks of it
You are right on the money Pete, a paint job is 90% prep, so if you prep it for them then you should have no worries. It's when someone throws a rust bucket at them and expect miracles is the problem.....
just cause they had one in the commercial doesnt mean they painted it.
but anyway if you do do it, remove the decals, emblems.
remove all the chrome.. bumpers mirrors
remove the front and rear lights
the door handles
scuff the car down with a scotchbrite pad completely.
get some nice 1500 grit wet sandpaper and wetsand the car down before it goes in the shop. thats providing it has decent paint on it now
