The New Superhighway
Bush Administration Quietly Plans NAFTA Super Highway
Quietly but systematically, the Bush Administration is advancing the plan to build a huge NAFTA Super Highway, four football-fields-wide, through the heart of the U.S. along Interstate 35, from the Mexican border at Laredo, Tex., to the Canadian border north of Duluth, Minn. http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=15497 ![]() |

Anti-immigration scare tactics. Next.
"Once complete, the new road will allow containers from the Far East to enter the United States through the Mexican port of Lazaro Cardenas, bypassing the Longshoremanhahaha8217;s Union in the process. The Mexican trucks, without the involvement of the Teamsters Union, will drive on what will be the nationhahaha8217;s most modern highway straight into the heart of America. The Mexican trucks will cross border in FAST lanes, checked only electronically by the new hahaha8220;SENTRIhahaha8221; system. The first customs stop will be a Mexican customs office in Kansas City, their new Smart Port complex, a facility being built for Mexico at a cost of $3 million to the U.S. taxpayers in Kansas City."

A good reason Bush does not want to secure the border with Mexico may be that the administration is trying to create express lanes for Mexican trucks to bring containers with cheap Far East goods into the heart of the U.S., all without the involvement of any U.S. union workers on the docks or in the trucks

I don't see anything wrong with that in fact it might be a pretty good idea assuming there is proper security on what ever is being shipped.
Something like that might be the best thing that could happen for South America. Highways are one of the major factors in developing a country. The only way we will solve the illegal issue is if they don't have any reason to leave. This would mean a lot of new jobs in Mexico not just for the port work, but for restaurants, gas stations and anything else you need along a major highway. This kind of thing would also help bring more tourism to that area of the world.

I'm going to laugh( not realy, but you get my point ) when Al Queda recruits mexican gangs to sneak in a nuclear device or maybe plant timing devices on tankers full of flamable fluid of some sort and set them off in the US.
