well not you specifically and I was wrong to say that

it's these stories though that circulate in the press forever and end up causing policy changes that interfere with normal activities of the troops.

a prime example was our troops using barking dogs to frighten prisoners. they didn't need to let the dogs bite anyone. all it required was to let fido sit there and bark and the enemy would give away valuable information. it didn't need to physically harm them in any way, they were just scared for some reason to a much greater degree than westerners would be. it was a fucking wet dream for the USA.

now instead of being able to use this advantage, they are forbidden. yet no one was harmed from that act to begin with.

yes I understand that there are no pictures available of the alleged rapes and murders however that is not what was being discussed or photographed here.

there is nothing wrong with what has been shown in these photos, I commend them for their fine work and hope they continue to do more of it. if you believe that makes me a 'sick fuck' then I am completely fine with that.

It's really terrifying that there are people out there who think like that. I can't understand how a rational person could endorse that kind of treatment of other human beings. Makes my skin crawl.

Not to mention the fact that this or any other kind of torture does not produce productive intelligence. Historically all torture has produced are false confessions. All it's doing is breeding a generation of Iraqi's who want to kill Americans.

You are wrong. They people involved received a Courts Martial for multiple charges. All of them except for one (I think) plead guilty to the charges. The one exception was the ring leader (he was a former prison guard in civilian life and had been in trouble for his actions as a civilian guard). None of this had anything to do with interrogations as was claimed by the ring leader. He could not present one iota of evidence at his Courts Martial to support this claim. It was the acts of a sadistic guard (who had been a sadistic gaurd in civilian life), acting on his own, that got some idiots to go along with these acts. As one of those charged stated, it was fun and games. End of story.

Just by coincidence I watched a Frontline special about "the Torture Question" on PBS a couple nights ago. It was very well produced and highly informative.

For those wish to have a deeper appreciation for the issue from a myriad of perspectives I highly recommend watching it.
