POOL TABLES - Poll on sizes

I am looking into getting a pool table. Someone told me 9' is definately what I should get, someone else says 9' is huge, most people play on 8' tables...

Anyone have some advice?

How about where to get one?

I just bought an 8.
you need 13' 3 inches from edge of pool tabel to wall for a 4 x 8 playing area and 25 ft long room. 9 is regulation, but the only place you will see that is in a pool hall. Even with an 8 you need a big room for the most part. i would go with an 8 with 3/4 in slate. You can get something nice between 3-5k usd.
I got mine at the game room. i dunno if they have a website.

Thanks, 8' doesn't feel cramped on the table does it?

Like Duke said, it's more about how much room you have available and you need lots for a large table.

If you're serious about playing well, I'll say this. If you can play well on a 9' table, you'll play amazingly well on any smaller size table. It'll seem like a piece of cake playing on a smaller table if you're used to playing on a large one.

Right... But I want to play as good in a pool hall as I would at my own house... If I get an 8 and then try to play in a pool hall I am sure it will feel foreign.

Oh I doubt this. Ok I'm assuming and 8 foot table is actually closer to 9 feet long so what you are saying is that you need 8 feet on each side of the table? Please. How mnay people have room that big anyways? 6 feet should be plenty 5 should be ok if you don't have the space. As far as width you're aying you need MORE sapce than you do with length? That doesn't make sense. If you need 13' 3" from the edge of the table to the wall then you'd need 13' 3" from the OTHER side of the table to the other wall. That's 26' 6" plus the width of the table. Yet for the length you only need 25 TOTAL feet?

Actually this is what I found

8' Pool Table
Minimum Recommended Room Size is 13.5' wide x 17' long.

The room I am putting it in is extremely large... I don't think a 12 foot would have a problem.. I am more concerned about playing on an 8 foot and then not playing as well on a 9 at a pub... I want my game to be consistent.

My family used to own a large gameroom in LA before a tornado tore it to shreds. We had all different kinds in there, I think the most popular was the 8 footer. That and Galaga lmao... people loved Galaga ;p

8' is a standard bar room sized table. 9' foot is a bit too large and makes some shots alot harder. 7' foot is imo too small. 8' is the way to go. I used to play no more than 7 days a week... havent played in probably 2 years now.
