Saw Harvey Keitel in the restaurant of a hotel I often use for shooting content. Saw Ed Asner when some movie was being shot near the apartment I was living in at the time. Was backstage for a Cream concert, so I got to see Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker fairly close up, but didn't get to chat, unfortunately.

I met Cindy Crawford once.

She was signing autographs at an opening for 24 Fitness in San Ramon, California. I had a big test that night in college, and I risked missing it to met her. I had her sign the cover of Playboy, which is sitting on my desk here at home.

As soon as I got her autograph I flew out to my college. The teacher at that time had us take our tests on the computer using the Inernet - It was a form on a webpage really. My buddy got a prefect score. I hit back on the broswer, replaced his name with mine, and submitted it moments before the end of class.

Well.. these are from the country music industry for those not familiar with it, but as a musician I worked along side:
George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis, J.D. Sumner & the Stamps (Elvis' backup singers), Jim Ed Brown and Helen Cornelius, Willie Nelson, Louise Mandrell.. and a few others..
then when I was the drummer for Helen Cornelius.. Did the Spring Tour in 81 with Conway Twitty and T.G Sheppard... Played the Opry and met a number of the older Opry members.. pretty cool place to play for a country boy..

I used to see Johnny Unitas (remember him?) all the time--when I was in high school, I worked at the pharmacy that he went to and he used to come in monthly or so. I used to feel sorry for him when he had to sign the charge slip--it looks painful when he signs anything now.
I live near Cal Ripken Jr and I've seen him around the town a few times too...most recently he was sitting behind me and my boyfriend in a movie theater. Hmmm, that's about it I guess--not too exciting lol.

Well, sort of. I was sitting next to him on an airplane (First Class, of course), and at once point he reclined and closed his eyes. As far as I'm concerned, that counts as him trying to sleep with me right there beside him. Aw, hell no....

I have to tell you, he was pretty cool. We chatted about stuff besides his show, but most of our conversation did involve unfaithful midget lesbian cousins and such. He was actually quite nice.

I was wearing a fake TAG at the time (13 bucks - downtown Toronto) and he was wearing a real one. He jokingly offered to trade with me since mine (blue) was easier to read than his (gray).

I got to meet her too. She was doing some made for TV movie here in town a couple of weeks before Christmas. At the time, I was working for the local cable company. I was at home in bed at around 9:30 since I had worked all day in the rain/snow and then ran call for a while that evening. I was fucking beat. Anyway, about 10:30, my pager went off. I called the night answering service to see what was up and if I could put it off until morning. No such luck. Almost half of the city was without TV and broadband access. Fuck!!! I had to go. To make a long story short, I got the problem fixed in about 20 minutes. It was snowing like a bitch and all the rain had made everything really slushy. I was so close to the office, I thought I would go back and do my paperwork for the outage so I could sleep later the next morning. I sat down at my desk and kicked off my shoes and socks since they were soaking wet, rolled up my pant legs and turned on the space heater. My shirt was soaked too so I removed it. All I had on under it was an old, white wife beater. There were usually production assistants there all night getting the local news ready to air in the morning and working on commercials, etc. Things just seemed louder for some reason. Once I got my paperwork done, I went up to steal some of their coffee as I usually did when I was there late. I rounded the corner into the production area and there stood Cindy Crawford. She had walked a couple of blocks from her hotel to the cable company just on a whim to do a celebrity spot for our yearly toys for tots fund raiser. She had just finished taping it and was ready to leave. The production guys introduced me to her as I stood there looking like something straight out of the beverly hillbillies with my pants rolled up, barefoot, wearing a stained wife beater and had a two day shadow growing. I laughed and told her "the one day I don't wear my tux to work and I meet a supermodel". She laughed and told me I was full of shit and she knew I didn't have a tux. I HAD to get out of there. I got my coffee and was headed out with my tail tucked between my legs and she asked me if she could have some coffee. I said sure and went and got her a cup. She walked with me back to the techs area and sat in the chair at the front of my desk and talked to me while I changed my uniform shirt and put on my shoes and socks.

It gets better...

She asked me to hang on a minute. She went back up to production and told them she was leaving. Then she came back and asked if I would mind giving her a ride back to the hotel. Unfortunately I didn't have my car there so all I had was a big diesel bucket truck. Nice truck, but still a bucket truck. She said she didn't care. She just didn't feel right walking back alone that late at night. So I told her to get in! I did have to drive around a couple of blocks so I could let her out on the right side of the street so we talked quite a while. She was extremely nice. Bar none the nicest celebrity I have ever met.

Just as a footnote, we weren't supposed to let ANYONE who wasn't an employee ride in the company vehicles. When I finally showed up the next day, everyone knew I left with Cindy Crawford in the big bucket truck and the camera guy shot footage of us leaving without us knowing. The GM saw the tape and I was written up for giving her a ride 2 blocks away!! My only request was that he noted on my sheet who I was being written up for.

I served a crap-load of celebs when I used to work in a 5-star restaurant here. Kevin Costner, Andre Agassi, The '93 Vancouver Canucks team, Barbara Streisand, Judd Nelson, Dick Van Dyke, Terence Trent D'arby, Meg & Jennifer Tilly, Kristy Yamiguchi, Donny Lalonde, Russ and Geoff Courtnall, Bob Hope, lots of others I can't remember right now...
