Trouble is the USA are such a tiny nation when it comes to football. They have a few half decent players who would do OK in the English second division (Championship) , but not a lot more.
For the rest of the world at this time the World Cup is on the front and back of every newspaper, with wall to wall television coverage. Who much coverage has the USA football team been given by the press in the States? Not a lot would be my guess. It's the biggest sporting event in the world but the USA is so insular when it comes to sport, with obscure almost indecypherable games such as Baseball and American football that no other country plays or wants to. A shame as they miss out big time with events such as this.Comment
