From what Ive seen on Guba (actually guba doesnt handle Adult stuff anymore - its their daughter site now) most of the content they obtain from the newsgroups is stuff put out there by program owners - there are a few exceptions where the kids rip a members area but if I remember correctly if you contact Guba they will take it down with no questions - doesnt get it off the newsgroups - but then Guba doesnt police(or own) the newsgroups

Yo...this one is good Jay. I'll tell you this, we make content and we have DMCA'd Guba a couple of times and they take the stuff down. We would sue (like others have suggested) but to tell you the truth we are tired of suing people. There is nothing that gets us heated more then our shit being stolen. But the guys at Guba are good peeps (waz up Bart and Kathleen) and they buy a healthy amount of shit from us for their other sites (skinvideo and videobox) and I understand how usenet works. Actually - Guba doesnt handle adult stuff anymore - they have it under their skinvideo site now - as far as Guba going away - dont think that will happen now that a major mainstream studio/distributor has signed with them to distribute their stuff

As stated GUBA is located in the USA, and so are many of the other big business operations who makes a profit from your content, without paying you.

2006 and beyond you will see an influx of YouTube/GUBA sites using your content. If you do nothing, then your content will be spread to a point, where no one wants to buy it. There is no other way than to sue these operations until they learn that only publishing legal content is a good idea.

i predict that in less than 10 years, you will be able to join a private sharing network and get any music, video, or any content that matter, for free...

If it makes you feel better, okay you are a traitor. But truth be told, what you will most likely turn out to be is irrelevant.

The first 10 years of post-BBS online porn have generated some nice businesses. Lots of ordinary guys have been able to buy big houses, exotic cars and the rest. And some may still be around in another 10 years. But a lot will disappear and very few will progress much further. That's the way every industry develops and the next phase will see growth coming from corporate operations. They will make the money we have seen until now seem like small change.

AEBN and Guba are showing signs that they might be part of that future. It certainly seems to be their direction and if they prove to have what it takes, it won't make any real difference whether we work with them or not. Hence my comment about irrelevance, which is true of all of us, not just you.

jayeff is 100% right unless this industry starts to take responsibility for its own future. i know several people that are 100 times smarter than anyone in adult that make ridiculous amounts of money in ways that many of us haven't even thought of. there are people out there now, that don't post on boards, that don't go to shows that are shellacking the internet and "balling" in the real sense.
