Do you think the Guy who betrayed Al-Zarqawi , should be rewarded??

I personally feel , a traitor is a TRAITOR, no matter who he betrays. Therefore should be shot and pissed on!!

So, if someone had a friend whom he knew was abusing children and he told the police, he should be shot as a traitor, or am I missing something here?

He'll be seen as a traitor to anyone supporting Al Zarqawi, but to the US/UK forces, he'll be given $25 million and probably witness protection and relocation.

Well, in terms of rewarding the guy who betrayed Zarqawi, it all depends on his particular attitude. If the $25m is going to be used to fund crime or further jihad activity then it should not be paid. It certainly shouldn't be paid in a lump sum. It should be spread over his expected lifetime. If the guy who betrayed Zarqawi is a scumbag then he should be given some of the cash but then quietly assassinated at a later date.

Paid out over expected lifetime and lump sum may be the same in this instance.

Intelligence relies upon traitors and rats. We all hate them but alas we all need them as well. I also feel a deal is a deal, so pay him.

I doubt someone would be fighting Jihad if they have 25 mil. I think their too much into Jihad because they are poor and got nothing better to do.

With 25 mil you'll be so busy buying the latest designer clothes, jet setting around the world, skiing in Aspen, sumer in the Bahamas, partying with Paris Hilton on Sunset blvd, who the fuck has time for Jihad with a schedule like that?

At least that's what I would be doing with 25 mil.

Yes, I think that he should get it. Just like the guy that betrayed Saddam and his sons got his dough. You start getting the word out that you pay people to betray bad guys, you start killing a lot more bad guys.

Also, I think we should all think about the fact that sometimes intelligence groups say that someone in the inner circle betrayed them to get them to all fall apart. If everyone starts looking around for a rat, they get really sloppy. I think it's highly likely that intelligence is using the media.

They should treat his reward like a Powerball lottery winning... If he decides to take the $25 mil as a lump sum, he will end up with about $2 million

If the US pay 25Mil for that info you can start calling me Elvis and i will start performing in Vegas.

The only way in hell they would consider paying if if the tip off came from an American and even then they would fuck him up to find out how he found out about Al Zarqawi in the first place.

By the way ... i still dont know why its such a fucking deal about this Al Zarqawi guy. If he is not the top terrorist anymore then someone else will be. I dont think the US managed to do anything really important here.

ok what if your neighbout was responible for killing 100's of people, you wouldn't turn him in becaue you didn't want to be a rat?

This kind of reminds me of this "Who wants to be a millionare" show I saw

Paddy's doing well on "Who wants to be a Millionaire"
He's got £500,000. Chris Tarrant asks him the big question for 1 million quid. "Paddy, for £1million, who was the great train robber?

Was it -
A, Ronnie Barker...
B, Ronnie O'Sullivan...
C, Ronnie Corbett or..was it
D, Ronnie Biggs???"

Paddy say's..."Oi'll take de money please Chris"
Chris reminds him that he still has his 3 life lines left.

Paddy again say's.."Nope, Oi'll take de money please Chris" "You don't want to phone a friend?" says Chris. "No t'anks, Oi'll take de money - foinal answer" "OK" says Chris, looking bemused "give him a round of applause ladies and gentlemen, Paddy goes away with £500,000. However before you go, you'll bviously want to know what the answer was Paddy?"

Paddy said "No, yer alroight, Oi knew de answer anyway, t'anks Chris"

"You knew it anyway!....are you mad!!!" asks Chris, "Are you mental?"

Paddy says, "Oi moight be mental Chris, but Oi'm no feckin grass!"

yeah like USA is gonna give him 25mil

expect him as a future bomb target

USA has promised a zillion times money to Turkey for letting them use their land for their military activities against afghanistan and iraq. Guess how much they have received over this and past decade? $0

I had a lawyer once - he's since been disbarred like all decent lawyers

Anyways.. he was never in his office when ya needed him, but always travelling round the globe.

Turns out he was the prime money mover for the proceeds of the Brinks Matt robbery at Heathrow where they removed around $45 mill in gold.

Anyways... he disperses the proceeds all over the globe and, who knows, but the current value has been quoted at anything between $300 mill and $500 mill at todays values after Michael did nice investment deals.

Then along comes the law to arrest him and he gets dumped in custody waiting trial, and, in keep with his code of honour, and not stress folks out, he inserts an advert in the Sunday Times which read...

"To whom it may concern: I want it to be known that I am not a grass"

PS.. He's out and walking now and has a nice lifestyle

PPS.. The vast majority of the proceeds were never recovered.

There is one way out of this mess for the US.

They have to show the Iraqis they will be a LOT better off because of the invasion than they now perceive they are or will be.

The problem is for most of them life is worse now and until it becomes a lot better because of the American/UK invasion they will continue to hate us.

And as far as they are concerned democracy is worthless. They need hospital, schools, roads, electricity, water and lots of other things.

You defeat terrorists by changing the way people think.

The "betrayer" is in the same place as al-Zarqawi. It was al-Zarqawi's spiritual advisor, who special ops tracked for a few weeks until he met with him in a village north of Baghdad, specifically in a barn. Then the bombs dropped.

Remind me not to rely too heavily on my "spiritual advisor"

There is an unwritten law that ya keep you mouth shut concerning your friends and associates. Alternatively - depart from your friends and associates.

There was a polariod photo on his desk - never looked at it till his eyes ran over it and he smiled. I asked him what the pic was.. he tossed the photo over to me. It was a pic of, what looked like a shack in some South American country - flat roof and adobe finish on the walls.

Above this "shack" it was a large sign - "Banco de Con" Subtle??

Bet that shack moved a lot of funding

Bottom line is, quite possible a lot of innocent lives may be saved with him out of the way.

Sure, the guy that did him in is a rat, traitor, etc. and I think someone like that could never be trusted - by anyone - but if it weren't for him, a very bad guy would still be out there planning American and Iraqi deaths.

With 25 mil you'll be so busy buying the latest designer clothes, jet setting around the world, skiing in Aspen, sumer in the Bahamas, partying with Paris Hilton on Sunset blvd, who the fuck has time for Jihad with a schedule like that?

Bin Laden has tons of money (millions) and look at him!!! He had a Playboy lifestyle years back but gave it all up to fight Jihad!
If I had that much money I could care less what was going on in the world, I wouldn't even care about anything in the world to be honest.

I would just jet set all over the world and party with Paris. And of course buy all the latest fashions straight off the runway. I would live like a star and look like a star and BE a star.

Seriously though.

The reward should be paid --and will be paid.

If it were not paid, no one would take future reward offers seriously.

Evidently according to a general on a news conference today, there was no "guy" who turned him in. He said it was based on about 3 weeks of intelligence gathering of all types by the military and "coallition forces" to find his location. He said there was no "one guy" who said "he'll be here, in this house, at this particular time".. So it might be a moot point.

yup. don't think he's gonna be able to collect the $25 million from the grave. besides, he wasn't working in cooperation with the US government. They were tracking this "spiritual advisor" because they knew he would lead them to the target. They got what they deserved.
