how many of you guys have a office (away from home)

how many of you guys have an office that's not attached to your home.

I get so distracted when I'm working from home, wondering if I should just go lease a office somewhere away from my home.

Does it help your productivity?

Used to have an office away from home but seeing that I work through out the day and night, I just work from home now. I don't have a wife or kids, its just me and my 2 dogs, so the distractions are minimal.

I think it not only helps get more work done at the office but it also helps you relax more at home. That is if you have a dedicated "work" computer at the office and then your home computer is just for fucking around and web browsing. I hate having a home office. It's more stressful and I loved having the routine of driving to work when I had a separate office.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

I'm still relatively young, so I've got roomates that still goto school and have irregular schedules. With an office, I could set boundries so that I don't get tempted away from work.

My home office is a standalone room from the house with its own kitchen, full bath, dining area and couches for freinds to chill on and a seperate entrance from the "main" house.

I love it

My ideal would be a seperate office built at my house.

Right now, my office and bedroom are all the same, and it does get rather old.

But not as old as commuting.

what, no way.

I live in a small town. Don't need anything big, 300 sqft is enough. Here's how I'm looking at it, if I get a office at my house, I'd have to pay for an extra room anyways (my roomates won't just give me an extra room without paying). Rather spend that on an office space.

Before I moved I had an office away from home and I loved it. I always thought I was more productive, but each to his own. Try it out... you'll find out quick if it works better for you or not.

Does it help your productivity?

As far as productivity you hit the nail on the head. Yes it does increase your productivity due to the fact that you spend more quality time on your more important priority's instead of trying to spend quality time on more unimportant task's. Also I find that creating the separation has allowed me to fully focus more on my home life(wife,kids...etc) Working from home is not a bad idea at all especially for those starting out in the business it helps keep cost down among other things, but for those who can or have a family I would definitely recommend it.

Totally agree!

BUT.. there are conditions. You got to be rigid and have rules - no interruptions, else whoever gets shot. Also got to have a schedule - worktime means worktime. I've been able to do this with no problems - but that may not be the case with other folks sometimes.

There is no comparison attending an office and working from home offices. I used to drive to a bloody office every day (wasting time), then hardly get any real work done other than "staff management". If employees can be kept to a max of six - fine, but otherwise stuff that lot.

Last bit - it's quality of life that really matters - that includes getting thru a load of work without bullshit.

Nothing beats it, it's nice to work at home sometimes. But best to have an office and work proper hours.
