Assuming they are all the same size and you need them all resized to the same size:

Open Photoshop.
Create an action
- Record
- Image > Image Size
- File > Save For Web
- Stop Recording

Batch Run Action
- Open all the images
- File > Automate > Batch
- Select the action you just created, and apply it to all open images

That should do it. You also might want to add a close command to the action so you don't end up with having to close all the images once you are done.

This is an excellent method, just remember you will have to do all your verticals first, then all your horizontals unless you want to end up with mismatched sized files....

If you have Adobe Bridge you can use the Image Processor command to resize all your files first into a new folder, then batch those Save For Web.....

to avoid that problem, instead of image>image size, use the file>fit image dialog.

enter the maximum dimension you want in both boxes. Say your images are 3000x2000 and you want 600x800 but some are verticle and some are horizontal. No problem... in the fit image command put 800 in the width and height box and PS will make the longest side 800 pixels.

You can also do it ghetto-style with irfanview. Simple yet effective. Watch how to do it.

Well if you're doing a 50% resize it should be fine..
