    DIG DEEP Boys and Girls

    OK it is time for a rather strange request...

    Go to www.shandra.us and take a look at the website that my step-daughter put up. She has been selected to go to Europe next summer on a music tour and when her Mom and I told her that she had to come up with the funds herself she came up with what I think is a helluva novel idea. She has a job at a local sub shop and she has decided to send out 500 letters each with a one dollar bill in them to business owners asking for sponsorship.

    Now, I thought this was a pretty good idea for a 14 year old. Anyway, I told her that I would see what I could do to rally the people on my end for a little donation action. Dig deep GFY'ers and help a litle sister out.

    Before you go off about this being a scam... feel free to email her or call (during NORMAL people hours). She will be happy to explain the whole idea to you and if you catch her on the right day she might even play a little music for you.

                                                                                                                                                          Look people, this is what I (we) do for a living and asking your co-worker/clients/vendors to support your child's fundraising is accepted in every other industry. If I worked in a bar (which I have) and asked the people that work there selling alcohol (a business that you have to be 21 to patronize) to help out with a little contribution would that raise as much ire as asking my contemporaries in the adult industry to do the same?

                                                                                                                                                          I am comforatble with how I make my living. It is legal and rewarding if not a bit trying at times. It seems that many of you have a problem with the basic concept of this business. I keep reading terms like "wrong" and "creepy" but nobody has added any substance to those subjective terms.

                                                                                                                                                          Explain to me how asking the people that I do business with to kick in for a kids school trip is anything other than good, right and just.

                                                                                                                                                                                              As this is the first month of the fund raising effort the 500.00 is still in play, but initial response is good. She put a lot of thought into where to send the first wave of letters.

                                                                                                                                                                                              She is also tracking things like what areas of the country produce the best ROI and what color paper received the best response, and so on.

                                                                                                                                                                                              This is a GREAT learning experience for her; I believe.

                                                                                                                                                                                              She also reads the responses from the Internet and she honestly thinks that the nay-sayers are the funniest part of the whole thing.

                                                                                                                                                                                              A great experiment in economics, psychology of selling and sociology... We are happy with things so far.
