SEO Question: IP related

I have all my mainstream whitehat sites under one ip. is this even remotely dangerous?

in theory, i would imagine google not caring that one owner has so many search engine result placements correct?

Are they all the same theme? Meaning do they all promote the same type of product?

If so, that is a big no-no. Here are a couple of facts provided by .Google :

* Near-Duplicate Content Filter = If multiple search results contain identical titles and snippets, then only one of the documents is returned.
* Host Crowding = If multiple results come from the same Web host, then only the first two are returned.

The host crowding penalty is why we came up with the idea of providing multiple Class C IP's. It isn't enough to just have them on individual IP's but different C's as well.

This is not to say that you can not share IP's or C's, just don't have them be of similar theme (and that does not refer to design).

I was going to say if they all promote the same thing, I think that google sees that as spamming.

yea, like others have said, if it's same topic and/or you link between them it's probably not a good idea to keep them all on the same ip...

wait, are u saying that if i had a site about rollerblades and another one about cooking on the same ip and i link them together (for "traffic" trade and link build up) then this would be seen as a bad thing for google?

Linking a rollerblade and cooking site together, whether on the same IP or not isn't exactly a brilliant idea.

hmm, it was for a network of new blogs im adding together, different mainstream topics but the link together is similar to what gawker media does with their 14 sites with different topics for each.

Do not link for linking sake. Your links should be relevant.

The main concern should be if they are all offering the same or similar content?
If no then its fine to host multiple websites on the same IP

Unless you link them through a "fitness and diet" site --

Are they at all related to each other? Contentwise, categorywise, or linkwise?
