Buying A Mattress Sucks!!!!! Why Do They Fuck With You???????

Each store carries similar or the same mattress yet they have different names. Some stores carry the exact same mattress and sell it for $1000 more than another store. I went into a store that ONLy sells King Koil mattresses and almost puked the mattresses were so cheezy.

Sealy and Stearns & Foster are the best name brands and they have mattress sets that are nice deals. Sealy owns S&F. Some of the "latex" mattresses are identical yet sell for very different prices.

Is there anything cheezier than a mattress salesman?

I'm trying to buy a double or queen right now. I have no idea what a reasonable price is. I found a queen set online, it had a good name and everything, for $850. Then I went to a store and the price was practically double. I'm going to go check out another store tomorrow, there's no way I'm paying double for the same bed.

If you are shopping YOU MUST CHECK OUT THIS SITE:

http: // www .philly.com/ mld/philly/living/home/design/ask_expert_front.
htm

This guy will answer your question so fast. He spells out mattress issues and what mattress is the same as what and things to look out for.

Read as much as you can. Ask as many questions as you have. He kicks ass. I keep asking him questions as I shop around. It is a great resource.

If you live near a costco or priceclub, that's the way go!

Ask the expert says that if you love it, it is well worth the price.

I'm glad you found the right mattress for you! You can't really "overpay" for a mattress that you love.

This guy says you don't have to spend a lot to get a great mattress. But, if you find a great mattress, buy it!

Consumer Reports was so wishy washy with their mattress reviews. They were worthless.

I spent two days researching mattresses. Uncovered all the dirt. End result: ended up with a $499 set at costco that had the *exact* same innards as "sleep country usa" wanted $1800 for, online retailers wanted $900 for, and sears wanted $1900 for.

The most slimy thing I discovered was that *all* the foundations from sealy were the same, but sears offered several versions for different prices (upto $699). A case of, if you want to pay more, you can!

Hey, what's the deal with CostCo? I'm not a member, don't they have a "day trial" or something? I really don't want to become a member only to find out they don't have any mattresses I want.

Check their website, if i recall, the webprice was +$100 and included delivery. I had a friend with a membership take me in and help load/unload.

They basically have a choice of: basic, firm, plush, ultra plush. (ultra-plush is basically a mattress cover (pillow-top), non-removable.) If you want more than plush, then just buy an extra soft pad: the foams in the pillow-tops will collapse faster than the springs, leaving you with a wonky mattress. Easier/cheaper to buy a new topper half-way though the spring life.)

Also, costco has a fantastic price on the necessary 'spill-pad'

Their site only lists king. What size do you have? I think double is what I'm going after unless I see a great price for a queen. I need a pillow-top, nothing real fancy but I need something soft. I was looking on mattress.com and they have some great prices, but shipping is going to take a month. I want to find a local place that will deliver same or next day.

This is their laytex (non-spring) plush pillow-top ('sterns&foster' relabel?): http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...nav=& browse=

This is the ultraplush pillowtop with springs less than half the price of above (and 75% less than sears etch) =) http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...nav=& browse=
Select the pull down menu for other sizes.

I'm satisfied with mine: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...nav=& browse=

And all of them: http://www.costco.com/Service/Featur...uctNo=11092446
