48k for a new M3 is the absolute base price.I bought one new in 2003 and it was pretty much loaded with the exception of the NAV and it listed for over 60k.

You can still get almost 2 cars if you compare it with the $210,000 it costs in Denmark.
The tax on cars here is 180% and there is a 25% sales tax.
