It's just my thoughts, but if rss2blog is the only competition why not just match them and it's one more thing people can't say is better or worse. This is assuming you aren't selling that many 2 second server licenses.

Oh and for this awesome idea you could be a cool pirate an hook me up for a half price

As you can see from the feature list, it's not even really a competing product. I hate to say it so blatantly, but we've played "fair" for a long time, and now a thread pops up with RSS2Blog vs. ABP? I'm sorry, but they aren't even in the same universe.

ABP isn't an unlimitedhalicense. If you want an "unlimited" version of something that isn't as good, that's your choice. For me, give me a well-licensed product at a fair price, and I'll keep rolling with it.

It's a no-brainer.

Crockett I've mentioned here, and there that's exactly what we are doing. A complete stand alone product able to post out to anything, and free upgrade to existing users.

YARGH!

I use rss2blog and I'm really excited about the new features in v4.

I can quote the email if you'd like.

For those people who couldn't afford or didn't want to pay $297 to try out RSS2Blog, there was an option with the earlier version to get it at a cheaper price.. $197 instead of $297 I think, with the stipulation that if you wanted upgrades you would have to pay the $100 difference.

If you bought the regular version at $297, all updates are free.

edgeprod 05-24-2006 06:49 PM

Wow, that's pretty fucking sleazy!

The chumps in the other thread kept saying "You can buy ABP for $197!" They never mentioned anything about it being an "old" version, never mentioned anything about needing to pay to upgrade, or ANYTHING.

Sounds like outright fraud on their part. Ouch. That makes me nervous to ever do business with RSS2Blog again -- They'd probably lose their affiliates accounts for shit like that if they were ABP users.

YARGH! I went to the site and ordered it. The price was 197.00 *shrugs*

That site looks like an infomercial to me so who knows.

edgeprod 05-24-2006 06:56 PM

Yeah, my issue is that dial, Babaganoosh, and the rest of the morons kept saying it was $197 or whatever the fuck ... it's deceptive and scammy. No wonder the "no refunds" thing has caused so many problems.

I offered to sell my RSS2Blog license for $1 to someone who wanted to try it -- I don't use it, ABP is better for what I personally do, and yet I don't need to make threads like this crying about how RSS2Blog sucks -- he asked the RSS2Blog scammers, and they said I couldn't transfer the license. I ended up just blowing away the package and trashing the emails -- worthless then, and worthless now.

It does doesn't it. :1orglaugh Apparently using yellow highlighting and making your page a mile long works but unfortunately it makes it look like the fifty million other fly by night silver bullet greatest internet marketing software ever made type sites that make their money off lazy webmasters and provide zero support and then resurface 3 months later with a new product.

Despite the marketing over-hype I took a chance and have been more than happy with the results. I can't say the same about several other pieces of software that sit gathering dust in my "stuff I don't use" folder :Oh crap but that's how it goes.
