You are presumably not stupid. You know exactly how most surfers will react when this stuff happens on their machines. So do we. So stop talking to us as if we only just swung down from the trees.

If you have a product people are going to want to buy, market it honestly and openly. If you need to download something to make the product usable, fine, but TELL PEOPLE HOW TO GET RID OF IT and don't start hitting them with popups launched from their own PC.

It's f*cking ridiculous. We are selling porn. People want porn: they don't have to be tricked and bullied into buying it. And it doesn't stop at the sleazy sales methods: I never saw a program yet which relied on such methods and offered anything but generic crap to those who were stupid enough to buy.

We can choose from dozens of sponsors who put time and effort into building sites which sell and which visitors enjoy. Some of them have been around for years and will be here for years to come. It's absolutely ridiculous to think about sending even a single surfer to someone who has done nothing more than have someone code a tricky piece of script.

The sad truth is probably that it does work. There are plenty of people with no business ethics whatsoever in this industry.

Multiple reasons. First and foremost, it does not remove all files. Secondly, by their own admission, there used to be a "bug" which made uninstalling hard/impossible. Third, their software changes very often and takes on many different forms. Even if it works today, this may not have worked a month ago (and didn't, according to many reports), and may not work a month from now.

I think it also has to do with the way people get to the site. There is a difference in signup methods for people typing in the domain or getting their through a referral code. And ofcourse a lot could depend on the country the surfer is from.

truthfully, I was considering, but then I thought about it. Is it really worth the risk.. I mean, I got you who I never heard of til this past week or so saying it's all ok, it's all legit, but on the other hand I see all these negative posts coming from people whom I've gotten familiar with over the last few years, wether it be from affiliate programs, or link partners, trade partners, online collaboration, or plain fucking around, or whatever, but I believe & trust Franck who I never met in person, before I trust a program trying to defend itself without backing up the facts.

All the negatives seem to have been supported with documentaion corroborating the claims, whereas I have seen no such documentation on behalf of webmaster direct refuting such allegations.

Besides, 50cents per install, what a measly toke compared to the upsell of $99!! Shit, If a member spends $99 on membership sites, I'd make at least $44 :thumbsup

Sorry, but I don't know you, don't know your company, but what I DO know is that your install behaves in a way that I simply do not approve of, period. I don't like the whole ransomeware model it's based around, uninstall available or not. (and many many people seem to be saying NOT)

The people who created WebmasterDirect, and anybody promoting it - have thought about how they are going to make money, and have decided they are OK with making some people very unhappy, essentially stealing from those people.

I worry about those people.

In an industry where you can earn a very good profit by providing a product people are happy to pay for, they have decided they would rather cut corners and simply steal from consumers.

If a WebmasterDirect supporter was honest with himself, his thoughts may go like this: "Creating value isn't for me. I am not creative or motivated enough to make money in a legitimate way. I will extort money from anyone I can."

Question : If WebmasterDirect are cool with extorting money from surfers, what is going to stop them from screwing affiliates too?
