The credit scoring system is pretty much retarded. Paying old college bills sends my credit rating down for some reason. But getting more credit cards and spending on them makes it go up. I've given up playing the system. It's a lot less stressful to just pay my bills off that I owed, and pay what I have now on time. Hopefully shit will even out over time. I'm just tired of having to take a calculus class to figure out what fuckin bills I should pay and when.

That is the worst part. I was making real good money out of college and looking for apartments. I had some old college bills I had that I think I let get into collections before paying them off. So the company renting out to me tells me my score is too low. I was like "fine, I'll pay 3 months up front, I don't care". They say they can't. I say I'll pay for the whole lease up front and they said they can't. Never made sense to me.

Oh, and one other thing. What is the best place to pull a one time credit report online? I don't want to get into some monthly bullshit plan. Just want to view my comprehensive credit report.

At myfico.com, you can pull all 3 for a one time fee of somewhere in the $45 range. They are available to view for a month after you purchase them.

use equfax, its free i am pretty sure, plus dont check your report too often, because everytime you check it, you should notice your credit score changing.

Basic_man 05-22-2006 07:21 AM

What the fuck is this score about?

http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ if you are in the US you are now entitled to view your credit reports once per year for free from each of the three companies. You can access one, two, or all three here for no cost at all. They do not include your FICO score for free as that was not required by the law. So just go to that site, enter in all your proper info and view and print them out. Just watch out for upsells (read everything before you click it). Also always go back to http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ to go to another company. The site requires no billing info at all.

word up

It's because each of the three bureaus uses a different scoring algorithm. Mine had almost 100 points difference with one bureau between their "proprietary" score and the actual FICO.

The only way to be sure you're getting the actual FICO is to go to myfico.com and get it straight from Fair, Isaac. And pulling your own report WILL NOT impact your score at all.

That's the general annoyance. They didn't want to KNOW me, but after I paid cash, they're like my best friend. Makes me sick.

I agree, re: the loan guy. They build little kingdoms, and then act like dicks.

Trey,

Best place to check your credit reports on a daily basis, and you can pull all 3 every 24 hours (new reports) is, www.truecredit.com

Like 12.00 per month or so.

Now on Truecredit the scores are not fico scores, we call them FAKO scores.. They are not your real scores and could be up to + or - 100 points or so from your true fico scores. But it gives you an idea of where your scores are..

Only way to see your true fico scores are at, www.myfico.com

Experian scores are fako, trans Union Scores are Fako. If you have Equifax Score power, then that is a true fico score, well credit card enhanced, but close enough.

You can pull your reports a thousand times per day and it will never ever effect your score.

Only "hard" inquires effect your score, when you pull your reports it's a soft inq and other companies never see that you pulled.

For util. Purposes always keep your total revolving balance under 50%, best to always keep it under 30% if you can.

Installment loans, i.e. Cars, homes, etc don't effect your util really for fico purposes.

Thanks

Todd
